2013 Harvest is done!

Central Nebraska. Good ground had good crops, poor ground was hurt by the heat. Just glad to be done. Had to learn how to run a different combine and tractor this year!

Nice looking Gleaner combine. Dont see alot of them anymore. I bet you are glad to be done.

The corn seems to be short like most of what we grow here for the crop, not silage. Can't say if it's tall like you guys up North grow or what. To be honest seems just in the last few years there has been a big increase in the white plastic tarps around which is where folks here store it and I saw quite a few of them before I knew what it was.

Anyway, the crop corn here is under 6' to the tassle and 2 identical ears to the stalk in the same place....generic seed modification I'm sure and that's ok fine with me.

So, how many ears to the stalk did you get in the picture and you mentioned a dry year, how many bushels to the acre? You guys get a lot more up there than we do down here, at least the little guys.

Is the last pic. beans?

Thanks for the pics. Nice job.

Nice pictures...All crops got planted 1-2 months late in southwest MO so harvest is really dragging..Probably 10-20% of the corn and 70-80% of the beans are still in the field...Less than half the wheat has been sown..We have had 6" of rain in the past week and more is forecast for Tuesday..

Some of the other corn hybrids were much taller, this spot in the field was a pivot corner with limited irrigation. Most stalks have one good ear, some with two. Yields were highly variable, even with irrigation, ranging from around 140 to the upper 200's, depending on soil types. Non irrigated corn was from zero to 160 bu/A. Yes, last photo is of soybeans.

Thanks, the Gleaner is quite a machine. The rotary turned out a very clean sample. Our last combine was a JD 8820 Titan II. Good older one, but it was time to update a few years.

Yes, glad to be done with storms on the way for Tuesday.
