I now have a '2 banger'.44 Jd 'A'.It has a wfe from an Farmall M,the seat from an M also.Needs tires/paint...Pd $1000.Drove it home.ran great! The tractor was bought by Mr.McHenry in 66 from a neighbor with the seat and front on it.Its primary job was in pinto beans, especially the harvest.A prime example of someone who needed something that wasnt available,or 'unaffordable'.American ingenuity at its finest!.I love it....

Lol, that's pretty neat, heck evin my farmall H don't have a factory front end, it's a Swartz wfe! Nice tractor.

It will stay just as it is.IF,IF it gets painted, the wfe and seat will be red,the rest will be normal JD colors...

Heck, that old gal has been around since 44 in original clothes, I think it gives it a lot of character!! Believe it or not, I had a 44 hand crank A when I started farming for a while in 68!!

Great Job Delta!!

I hope you enjoy that tractor as much as you enjoy your Farmalls, just don't like it so much that you get rid of your Farmalls for more green tractors! lol. I think it looks great

Necessity is the mother of invention! I would leave it like it is well maybe some newer front tires. Would love to hear the story of how it ended up with the M wfe

That is a very big looking A. I see a lot at the pulls and it still amazes me the difference in size in one model. The seat is very much like the one on my Oliver 70. Must have been built by the same component manufacturer

DeltaRed,
Congratulations. It is really neat - just the right amount of rust.

I actually like the Farmall seat... it is part of the "story" of that tractor.

Those Monroe seats were aftermarket. I have seen quite a few of them on John Deeres similar to yours. In fact, I have one that is now doing duty as a seat out in my shop. When I started cleaning it up for repairs and a repaint, I found John Deere green was the FIRST color. Nothing but bare metal under the green.

Congratulations Steve. Nice looking old A. You really look good sitting on that green tractor. Dale

Looks pretty good. As Larry said, you are now "Delta Red Green" just go easy on the duct tape.

Nice A at quite fair price too.

I think it would look good either way as far as paint: Cleaned up the way it is currently as it has lots of character IMOP the way it is. Also it would look good too with fresh paint on the green JD areas as well as red paint on the IH areas. In short, it is unique either way.

Is that an old section of tire serving as a mudflap for the flywheel to help protect the operator? I have never seen anything like that done on any of the ole A's with exposed flywheels. Farmer ingenuity at its best I guess.
