What size is square holed plug on bottom of torque on a 300 & where do I get a wrench that fits it? Thank you.

My 1965 IH Scout, with 4 cylinder slant 4 cyl
engine,(1/2 of a V-8) had a square hole oil
drain plug in the pan,(female square hole),and
a 1/2 square drive rachet wrench, or breaker bar,
fit it perfectly !

Find a square headed bolt that fits it and double nut the bolt, or weld the nut to the bolt and use it as a wrench. Jim

Don't know on the torque, but it probably has taper thread, probably a pipe thread. Just go easy and snug it up good. If it leaks, tighten a bit more.

As to the tool, if the square on a ratchet won't fit, you will need to make something. I needed a 5/16" square for the differentials on my old Chrylsers. I just welded a piece of square stock into an old socket and case hardened it using old, dirty Diesel engine oil. Worked just fine.

The plug is on the bottom of the Torque Amplifier housing. It has been a long time since I took one out. I think it is either 5/16" or 11/32". I got my adapter tools from Snap-On.

When I worked in the Mines, we had a lot of equipment that had square hole plugs of all different sizes. I just went to the hardware store & bought 6" lengths of every size of square key-way stock that they had, up to 1 1/4". Took them home & cold bent them with a 90 degree dogleg so that they looked like a set of square Allen wrenches.

I've took an old bolt, ground 4 flats on the head, then bent the shaft 90-degrees, makes a wrench.
