I've been to the UK (England & Scotland) a number of times and am always amazed when I stop to look at all the stone walls / fencing. What is so amazing to me is to consider all the man hours of labor involved in their construction ... ie ... NO bulldozers and loaders and up / down steep hills / mountains tat would be difficult to walk today. Imagine doing so and carrying those heavy rock...!!!

Thanks for sharing the photos.

I enjoy your country pictures. All I ever see of England from the news is London. Being a country boy I'm not much interested in the city so this is refreshing. I am very much interested in what the rural areas look like. Jim

I actually was only one town away from Heriott country....Thirsk, North Yorks. I did intend to get some pics in the town for you all to see, but Iwas on a very tight schedule and still had a lot of calls to make so had to keep driving.

That is some pretty country.I have enjoyed all the photos that you have posted the last couple days. As you said, some of them could have been taken just about anywhere, EXCEPT for the stone fences.

great pics. we toured England and Scotland in '05 and were fortunate to have a guide with an agricultural background. she pointed out similarities and differences in the way farming is done in the UK vs the US. at that time there was a big push to grow more domestically and rely less on imported food. side note: we landed in London 3 days after the subway bombing. had an interesting encounter with security at Heathrow when we were leaving.
