Kubota 5040 spitting and spuddering

My Kubota 5040 will sometimes just start running like it is starving for fuel and dies and after draining the water bowl and it doesn't have any water in it and bleeding it finally runs good for awhile and then does it again, any suggestions? Also the remotes will not pop back to nutrel when the cylinder reaches full stroke in ether direction, adjusted that screw with the locknut at the back of control valve but hasn't helped any, Any advice would be appreciated.

I would say you need to REPLACE the fuel filter on the tractor. Now on the remote you may have a remote that is NOT self canceling as you want . You may have a FLOAT detent which is the standard FIRST valve second dealer installed can be either, float detent or self canceling.

Thanks,I did change the fuel filter, and the remotes used to return to nutreal and it got to where it wont do it any more and it just has the one remote factory installed and the loader has its own valve.

A couple years back I bought a used M4900 that acted similar to what you describe on engine spitting/sputtering. Change filter and it would run good for a little while then loose power again. I checked flow of fuel from tank and tank venting but found no problem. Local Kuboto service manager told me to check the tiny screen in the water separator filter fuel cut-off assembly. Cleaned the screen and the problem was solved.
