Farmall 300

Anybody see any sell at auction recently? As much as I love the other tractors it is getting to the point where it would be nice to have something with fast hitch and a NFE to move things in the barn and around the yard. Now that I am closing in on 50 those implement jacks seem to crank harder.

Don't know what they're bringing, but I made a hitch to go on a 3 point that will drop all the way to the ground. I made it to move the elevator around from crib to crib, but I've even used it to move the round baler.

Thanks for mentioning that. The NFE tractors here lack three point hitch so I thought maybe 1200 to 1400 dollars for a work clothes 300. I've got the Ford 860 but I have never been really happy with it so maybe it will get moved for something else. As it stands the Ford gets little use.

I paid 1180 including tax for my 300 at an auction in spring 2012. It had a stuck engine and stripped IPTO drive on the pressure plate, iffy tires and bad rims but it had all of the nice stuff, TA, IPTO and fast hitch, plus an extra hyd. remote. I fixed it up with a LOT of help from D Slater and others on the Farmall forum, have now performed the double split twice on it. It is a great tractor when it is working and it saved a lot of time haying this summer and skidding logs year round over my old H, which I had for a few years. What part of NY are you in? There is a 300 coming up for sale in Oneida County this Saturday and I will be there, but they do not have pictures of anything on the sale so I do not know what it has. If you are interested in it I will find the auction listing and post a link to it.

I am about 45 miles SE of Rochester, NY. I saw the ad you are talking about in this week's Country Folks. It's almost 2 hours away I figure. The only way I could justify going is if I get seriously rained out of harvesting crops at the present. The ad does not say what type of front axle or hitch type. I know of a project 300 similar to what you describe although that tractor has sat awhile. I would want to make sure the gears that are not immersed in oil in the transmission do not have heavy rust among other things. It would be nice to get one yet this fall but would not need it till spring so I could wait for the usual Jan-Feb-March auctions here.

If all you need is a 'hydralic drawbar',no need to buy another tracxtor...Simply get a 3point cross drawbar, and put a 'mast' on it to prevent spinning. Then put a 'drophitch' on it that will touch the ground.I have a similar outfit.Have ysed it on a multitude of different tractors.Pretty damn handy....

I need something with NFE to navigate some of the tight areas in the barn. The NFE tractors we have do not have three point. Also, I have the Ford which is seeing very little use anymore.
