4430 stuck in park

Shouldn't be anything wrong. Push in on the engine clutch. Then try getting into 1st or 1st reverse. It takes 2 hands, 1 to hold the lever towards A range and a second to try and get into forward or reverse. Then let the clutch out slowly the range lever should pop into A.
 
First off you DO not need to PUSH real hard. Second you do not need two hands either.

1) Push the range lever out of park and into the "A" range slot/notch. It is spring loaded and will push over there easily. It will stay there without holding it. !!!! DO NOT FORCE IT!!! It will move there with just light spring pressure.

2) Then you will can now move the Quadrant lever (Forward/reverse) lever into low/1st forward or Low reverse. This is where you need to think just a little. IF you have the front of the tractor down hill then you need to backup just a little to take the pressure off of the transmission gears. If the back of the tractor is down hill then you need to pull ahead just a little to relieve the load off the gears.


To many fellows do not know how to do this or will not read the decal right behind the shift lever that tells you how to do this. Just brute forcing the lever will just break/bend the shifter linkage.
 
If it is "nose down", put it in reverse and slowly/gently ease the clutch out a bit and the PARK A B C D lever will easily shift out of "Park".

If "nose up", put it in "first" and do the same thing.

Bottom line is that you need to ease it in the opposite direction of which gravity is tugging it.

Old Iowa has it right. The Park ABCD lever is on a spring. You can force it up into A against the spring. Then put the other lever in a forward or reverse gear as needed and gently let the clutch out. When the pressure comes off the park dog you will hear the spring pop and it's out of park

I agree with what Bob stated. Beside it being in the operators manual it's also on the instructions on the shift diagram on the console of the tractor.
 
Well, looks like JD Seller won't be around any more, thanks in part to guys like you, Claude. So you'll need to jump into the void and afford us your vast knowledge of JD tractors when the guys have problems.

Always wondered what make the trolls tick. Still don't know. Probably never will. But thanks everso, for all you have done for the board.

JD Seller is very JD knowledgeable although I didn't always agree 100% with everything he stated he is very knowledgeable. I had noticed since his combining thread got poofed he'd been scarce on this forum
 


Yep, the keyboard commandos have chased another contributing member away. I see it alot at other boards I frequent. Doesn't matter what type of board; firearms, boats, muscle cars, snowmobiles etc. There's always a troll that knows more than the contributing forum members. There is a vast amount of knowledge that used to be freely shared here, Clooney being a prime example. They get tired of the BS. :cry:
