im thinking a frontend loader for my 782 cub cadet would be very handy sometimes, anyone have any luck with anything, most seem to be Johnson brand.i cant seem to find one for sale tho,i do see them fitted to all kinds of garden tractors on the internet too.i do have a 160 allis with a ac460 loader that is handy, but for me one for a gt seems easier to get on and off of

I have always waned one, as well. But, on the other hand, outside of carrying a couple of 5-gallon buckets worth of dirt/gravel/etc. WHAT can a guy REALLY do with one?

I have a cub lowboy with a Wagner loader. I use it just about every day. Very handy. I am amazed at what that little ten horse tractor will do.

my thought was I can tow my log splitter to the woods,i ncurrently use 120lb of front end weight for this, then while by myself I could roll the large pieces into the bucket and put them on the splitter without using my back or legs,id just like to be able to move 3-4 hundred pounds easily.

They seem to go for 1000.00 to 1500.00, you might be better off finding a garden tractor with the loader on it. I would like to have one to get in places I can not with the tractor.

Couple of years ago at our local Harvest Festival, I saw a nice HOMEMADE loader on the front of a 4x4 Quad-runner. It worked great. All hydraulic off of an add-on power steering pump. Suitcase weights on the back of the Quad.

Not a cub cadet but yes you can do more than you might think with a GT and loader.

Great way to have a big tip-over picking anything over 100lbs high is just not smart out in a timber or any place thats not on cement. Look up loader as many are built for small stuff but arent cheap and what is your hy system rated for psi and gpm.

I have a loader on a 425 John Deere Garden tractor
handiest thing around the farm, great for loading manure out of sheds and barns, picking up rocks and a thousand other things where a big loader doesn't work well. It'll handle up to 400lbs pretty easily. The loaders aren't cheap usually $1000+ and power steering and differential lock on the tractor are a big plus and your Cub doesn't have either.Probably the best route is to look for a tractor with a loder on it already.

I think it would work ok on hard turf but on wet ground I believe you would be mostly stuck.
And if the tractor does not have power steering and some heavy duty tires and a heavy built front end you will most likely be unhappy.

6 years ago I bought a terramite. I didn't know what I was going to do with it either, just wanted one. I've put over 1000 hours on it. I have a bad back and it does the lifting for me. I will never be without one. Use the hoe as much as the loader.

impressive, i had written these off as a yuppie toy untill i saw yours there is a guy in town who has a garden tractor i believe its a troybuilt whith a loader on it, and ive watched him run it, while its better than a wheelbarrow, especially for somebody with a bad back, it wont lift high enough to load a pickup, he can load a flatbed trailer though, i borrowed a small kubota with one once because it was available, and the one i have is too big to be easily hauled to town my flatbed dump truck has rack sides about 6 and 1/2 foot tall, [ 1 ton] and it wouldnt go high enough to load over the side of it i had to load into the rear of the truck and push it foward with the backhoe on the other end of the tractor , one size larger unit i think would have loaded it

Here is what I notice about this thread. The people that don't own one and never owned one are all telling you that they are worthless, dangerous, and unusable except on level concrete.

The ones who do own one are all telling you it is the handiest thing around and they would never get rid of it.

I have a Johnson loader that I put on a Case 220. I built a set of pallet forks for it along with the dirt bucket that came with it. I can pick up about 400 lbs with it and lift it to about 5' off the ground. That is more than I can pick up and move by hand. I would love to put power steering on it, but I still use it for everything. Mark me down in the second category.

Handy. Had one on a cub cadet 123 and it worked great

You just need to know its limitations

Great on hard surfaces and will have traction issues in mud

Rear weight give you a lot of stability and traction. Light in the rear with out

Now have a kubota bx2200 Even better. Good in Slippery conditions and the 4 wheel drive is great and a lot more stable

Get one. Very handy

I have a Dig-It brand TLB unit. This is a Power King derivative. Once you have access to a small TLB unit, about the size of a Terra Mite. Once you get used to having one around you will not want to let it go. It will do everything from digging septic tank and lines to moving trees and flowers for the wife.

I have a set of homemade forks that hook onto my bucket and about 400 lbs is the limit, but at age 74, I can't out lift it. Don't intend to be with out if I can help it.
