it's a gravity bottom dump. there is a wheel not in the picture that opens the bottom hatch. i haul to an elevator with it and just drive over the dump pit and open up the bottom hatch. you could also get a swing out auger under it.

The trailer will safely carry 250 bushels of milo. i can only legally haul 230 with the weight my truck is plated for. If/when I get a little bigger I will upgrade my tires, put it behind an International 4700 or something similar and put a tarp on it i should be able to haul 350-400 bushels. But 230 is good enough for now for 30 acres.

How heavy is milo?

How did you calculate the capacity of your rig? My math comes up different. 2-10,000lb axles for 20,000lbs plus 5,000lbs from your coupler gives 25,000 total. Subtract about 5,000lbs for the trailer weight gives 20,000lb payload or about 350 bu. I don't know anything about you plates, and don't condone over loading, but there should be no problem with the trailer going some over 300 bu as is if the brakes work as they should.

my empty weight is right about 13,000 for the truck and trailer. my truck is plated for 26k. 13,000 divided by 57 lbs is 228 bushels. the trailer can definitely handle 300 no problem the truck plates are the issue. I take that truck with me from one Army duty station to the next and don't want the hassle of a truck with greater than 26000 tags going across state lines.

In some states a plate doesn't apply to a special purpose trailer used for farming within 150 miles of home.....

See a lot of 365-400 bu gravity wagons behind a 1/2 ton pickup around here. That doesn't always appear smart....

Anyhow, donno if ag laws would apply where you are, just mentioning it.

I understand not wanting to cross the 26000 figure......
