Best looking tractor

Never seen this on this forum before, so I'll ask for opinions.
Having read an article where it was said that Enzo Ferrari declared the "60's Jaguar XK-E to be the most beautiful car of all time, it begs the question:
From the standpoint of appearance and beauty of design, what is, in your opinion, the best looking tractor(s) of all time?

The "round nose" Cockshutts- 20, 30, 35, 40, 50. Nice proportions, and that "art deco" grill just really sets them off.

For a manufacturer standpoint, I'd have to say the Oliver 70 series throuout the Fleetlines with their engine covers, slanted dash and steering wheels.
An individual model probably be a Oliver 70 with a Raby cab or more specific a Moline UDLX.

IMHO, I prefer the 70 series Case tractors. But that is just me. Very interesting question too.

I"ll try to be impartial as to brand. Judging strictly from a "color scheme" viewpoint, I"d have to say the Farmall 350 and 450, with the 1206 coming in a very close second.

Judging from an overall "streamlined" viewpoint, probably the Oliver 77 and 88, with "new generation" John Deeres ranking a very close second.

And hopefully I won"t offend anyone here, but the "ugliest tractor" award has to go to the Ford 6000 commander, which is sad, because Ford really did try to catch everyones attention with their new design, but somehow, it just didn"t work.

IH 560,1206,1066...John Deere 730,4010/20,,and 4440..Oliver 1850 painted and dualed up..CASE Black Knight..Allis d21,,210/220,AC 6080 is a sharp lil tractor too

Any of the thousand series Fords, the blue paint with the red striping on the decals is perfect.

Any brand orchard tractor in full trim, period. The flow of the panels on an orchard just looks stylish.

Minneapolis- Moline Jet Star's! And I am an Allis Chalmers fan!
My styled WF is pretty sharp looking too.

The 1941 Farmall B is my choice...
The reason...My uncle tought me how to drive in one, I was 8 years old...
He and the old B did a good job because I am fixing to be 62 and no accidents till now...
I still have the B but it needs a bit of work, Everytime I see it I remember of days gone
by but remember things that I did on that tractor like if happened yesterday...
I tought my son how to drive on it when he was 6 my wife had a fit...But I went with
him till he was 8 and then he went on his own...He is 41 now and
no accendents not even a driving violation ticket...The B did a good job on him too...
The best feature of the B is pedel deck that the seat there big enough to fit two
perosons perfect tractor to teach kids how to learn to operate one and learn to drive...
I plan to retire in a few months I am going to bring it to the house and restore the
old boy...
Here is a link for a 1941 B I found...Mine does not look this good yet...!!!!!!!!!
The winner for me...

This. I fell in love with the looks the first time I ever laid eyes on one. I wish there were some local to me. I'd love to have one just to look at. I do prefer the tricycle style.

I've always been partial to the -30 series Deeres. Just something about the last of the two lungers. The -20's are also good, but the -30's are sweet.

Well, Ummm.
The tractor has to not be too heavy, nice large shapely headlights, rear end cannot be too big and must be able to pull a good vacuum.

Or, It would be the Ford 5000 IMO.

IH 1206

I saved (stole off the web) this picture a while back, someone deserves some credit for the restoration and the photo.

The last one in the barn at 2 AM always looks good !......Oop's got mixed up on my thinking.

Seriously, since I grew up with IH my first choice would be 1206 and second would be 460 and 560 Farmall.

Here are a few of mine.
the wifey thinks they are Seky, HeHe. (coulden't use Kenny Chesney's song title, from a few years back. foul language, I guess)
The two 770's are only 4 sn# numbers apart., both 1971 production,Both were diesel 8spds, open stations, I put a cab off a 1070 on the one.770. The 511B and 411B are both 1959 models

The most beautiful tractors ever built were the Cockshutt 30s and 40s. Superb styling and their color combo with the Red and Cream was tops.
Next in line styling wise were the Ollies with the side curtains. A 60 comes to mind. But their Green/Yellow and Red wheels was not so hot in the color department.
The ugliest tractors ever built were the some of the MMs. They might have been good tractors but their styling was awful and their anemic yellow/sick red color made you want to puke.
Not sure of the models but even the Soviets during the cold war built more handsome machines.
Tops in the cute category were the Allis Bs.
Honorable mention in that department were the Ford Ns.
Neither manufacturer ever made a particularly good looking tractor again.
Worst ever in the color department were RED/White/Black IHs.
Great machines but
Same colors as in the Nazi flag. What were they thinking??
No other brands were particularly splendid or awful.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the light green on green of the late Ollies was very nice.

After looking at all the responces I have determined it is whatever tractor you got, so for me it is the 8n

Prettiest- IHC 460, Oliver 77 or 88. Allis Chalmers last series D-15 All narrow front, Ugliest any "chicken roost" Case such as a SC or DC. The Graham Bradley was pretty in pictures but I do not remember seeing one.

To me.. It's a Case Flambeau Red DC narrow front. If you don't like the looks of "chicken roost " steering you just have to drive one to fall in love with the ease of steering. Have had people who don't know how easy it is to turn, have asked me if it has power steering.

I like all tractors, some just better than others. Some of those include:
John Deere new generation
John Deere 830
Farmall 06/56 series
The unstyled letter series JD
And lately I've been liking the looks of MM UB

The '100' series Massey Fergusons hit the right buttons for me, My boys, however say I am showing my age and they have only eyes for bigger, newer more expensive toys!
a131769.jpg

a131770.jpg

Wide front International 656. Flat-top fenders level with the nice long hood. Spindles correct height, muffler attractive and in the right spot, concavity of rear wheels just right.

(quoted from post at 12:11:08 10/10/13) The "round nose" Cockshutts- 20, 30, 35, 40, 50. Nice proportions, and that "art deco" grill just really sets them off.

Well since that tractor is in my barn I will have to go with the Cockshutt Deluxe line and or any Narrow front Cockshutt/Co-op 40.

Key I got one of those too.

I'm with Samn on this one. The 100 series Masseys were one of the sharpest tractors ever built. I also like the grey Fergusons and I think the Farmall letter series tractors were sharp looking tractors for their time.

Best would be Cockshutt Blackhawk, and I will probably never own one, second Oliver 70, which I fell in love with when I saw my first one after I had been into tractors for about 35 years. I enjoy looking at Bruce from Canada's 930 too though.

thats kind of like asking whose girl is the prettiest, the answer is the one you have or grew up on

A little help with the picture.
I'm not so good at standing on my head anymore.
Yes those are the models.
Are those yours?
Very nice looking machines.
Ford used a similar color scheme on some of their light industrials which I have always liked too.

Hey DC3,
Pretty sharp DC there. Dad bought one new in '51. We still have it, and two others. Mighty handsome tractors.

Glenn

My vote, New Generations. I did not grow up with them either.

I must admit, I sure like that 1206.

It doesn't get any better looking than the new generation 20 series with ROPS and canopy top. The IH 1066 with duals and a canopy top run a close 2nd. Those 2 series of tractors had style.

I also really like the newer 6000 series Deeres with a cab, FWA, and a loader. Something about the small short framed look with meaty tires I like. I have never driven one though.

Well the best looking tractor I ever ran is ......the M1A1 tank! Now if they would just fit it with live pto and a 3 point......

Rick

Love the looks of the Cockshutt Deluxe series, but the Oliver 990 is pretty sharp looking too, not to mention the sound under full load.....
a131826.jpg

I am partial to Farmall letter series (have a Super A). For looks, a David Brown Crop Master should not be forgotten. See link.

Generally, beauty is a matter of (personal) taste but everyone will have a soft spot for the tractor she/he grew up on or learned to drive on, irrespective of its looks.
Pics

I like all that are done right or nice originals, but the older Olivers with the red ,yellow and green paint scheme and the 1206 IH with the all the white stick out as far as color. How many tractor colors would you order a a car or truck in?Red &white are two of the most popular colors.

I put the pictures on with the ipad and they are fine but when you look at them on my PC they are upside down, yes I have 8 Cockshutts.

Allis Chalmers D-21, Case 1030, Cockshutt 30 & 40 (I like the 540 too), IH 1206, Ford 7000, Oliver 77 & 88, MM G-1000 (how can you not like that long hood?), Massey Harris 44, Massey Ferguson 65, Steiger Wildcat, any red Versatile. Cannot think of a JD that I like. Will have to get back to you on that one.

I like LP gas tractors and the 530,630 and 730 Deere LP's are my favorite's
Here's my son in 2003 at age 16 breaking tobacco ground with a 730 LP. The tractor he grew up on. It is now his.

For a diesel I like the 400 Case roundnose's
Here's mine grading the driveway

I also like the look of the thousand series Fords. Here's me in 1974 on dads new 5000.

Here's dads 3000 also bought new in '74

I like any of the Flambeau red Case tractors. Here's my 52 DC-4
