My Farmall Popped!

Hey guys, just discovered an interesting problem. My Farmall C has been sitting in a covered shed for about 3 weeks, hasn't been run or moved. Went out to say good morning to it(not something I do on a regular basis or anything) and discovered that it has dumped out a large amount of this milk chocolate looking ooze. The catch, it is coming out of the drain hole in the bottom of the right brake? It had been sitting on a little bit of a slope, leaning to the same side as this leak, but I have never heard of something like this happening? I have never been in the trans on this thing, so I don't know what it looks like, so what do you guys think is going on? Any ideas would be great! Thanks, Bryce

Moisture condenses inside the trans. If you use the tractor frequently and hard it will warm up the oil and drive off the water. Occasional light work will just mix it up and make what you see.

Is there a rubber boot around transmission lever where it goes into top transmission cover ? If so it may be split or worn allowing water into transmission.

Like the others said, drain out the crud and put in new oil.

Pull the drain plug, and you will be surprised how much water will come out before anything else. Over the years water will enter through the cracked rubber shift boot as someone else mentioned. Stan

If you can [you may not want to] pull off the transmission cover, and get a wood slat, and scrape and push all the years of crud, solid gunk, dead crawdads, etc. out the drain hole. Might be surprised how much gloop is in there.

so if I change out all of the trans oil, do I need to put in a new seal? Or is it just over filled because of the amount of water that it could possibly have in it? Never thought about the shift boot, but that does make sense. REALLY don't want to tear the tractor apart seems as how it is already restored, but if it is the right way of fixing it, then I probably should rather than a half a$$ job. Just because when I do stuff like that I can never forget about it and let it go! :) Thanks guys! Bryce
