Removed the old nut with a 3/4 drive flex bar and heat. Have a replacement hub to install.Ordered a new nut and lock from our host.Ordered the $28.00 axle nut.My manual says to use 450 ft. lbs. of torque to tighten the nut. Would like to know how
any of You have tightened the nut.

If you bought the two piece nut, which from the price I think you
did, put the first part on snug, then put the lock ring on finger
tight or slightly more. Don't lock it down yet.
Use a socket that holds both the lock ring and the nut at once.
Then tighten it down. Otherwise you are tightening on half a nut.
The split sections will just separate and slip.

If your torque wrench doesn't go to 450 ft/lbs (common) use a
3 ft breaker bar or pipe and put 150 pounds of force on it.
If you weigh 225 lbs, hoist yourself on a handle two foot long.
Then lock the lock ring down.

Check it every so often, at least once a week depending on use,
for the first month to make sure it hasn't come loose.
Check it occasionally after that just for good measure.

The nut needs to be tightened to 400 ft lbs . You need to use the proper size nut , which will be a 3/4" drive . So use the longest 3/4" ratchet or breaker bar & a 4' pipe . After snugging up the nut , have help keeping you from falling ,while you stand on the end of the 4' pipe to reach that 400 lb ratio .A torque wrench with a 400 lb rating will be realistically hard to find , so most guys say by standing on the end of that 4' pipe will meet that required ratio . Good luck & let us know how you make out . HTH ! God bless , Ken

Pretty simple, 100 lbs pull on a four foot wrench equals 400 ft lbs torque. Lot of experience tightening wheels with the four foot bar, not Ford though. But, always good practice to recheck after driving it around for a while.
