I have a radio in my 02 ford. For some reason the thing just starts playing for no reason. I shut it off, and in a couple hours it is playing again. Anyone seen this happen before? If so how can I fix it? Stan

My 01 started doing the same thing about a year ago, the fix was a new radio (aftermarket $120) I now have an audio input AND a usb port on the radio. For the price of the aftermarket radios you can't afford to have the OEM ones fixed.

Same thing happened to the one in my semi, twice. Would lock on and the only way to shut it off was to remove it from the dash and unplug it. Got 2 new radios under warranty so far.

It's possible the GEM Module has some moisture
in & getting a cross flow of currant.. If other
things start happening like the power windows
come up or down on there own, that's the
problems.....

Be glad it didn't do like the one in a Mustang my daughter had. I drove up in the yard one day and her car was filled with smoke,(she had driven up just a few minutes before I did,) had to call the fire dept. The tech that checked it out said that the amplifier under the seat had shorted or something and caused one of the rear speakers to overheat. He wasn't too sure about just how it happened himself. Insurance had to replace the radio and the entire interior of the car.

my 96 crown vic s radio stays on constantly ,,. I just turn down the volume ... my 98 crownvic radio is same ,, but on /off switch worx ,, but the plastic intake manifold is the schtz..

Bottom line is that the manufacturers have loaded the vehicles up with so many "bells and whistles" to try to "one-up" each other that they are troublesome and USELESS... Stop and THINK... WHO NEEDS a radio that isn't simply electrically disconnected from the battery unless the key is in the "ON" or "ACC" position, and is there ANY reason for the manufacturer to set them up otherwise?

Going beyond that, WHO needs the delayed off/theater lighting dome lights?

A little while ago, I came home and parked out front. As I was walking to the house, I looked back and the dome light was still on. So I stand there like an idiot and wait and wonder if it will go off, or if the door didn't close completely and the battery will be dead in the morning.

Finally, I take a couple of steps back towards the car, only to see it go off.

WHO needs that crap... in the old days, you had either left the dome light turned on or the door wasn't shut tight, NOW, due to the manufacturer's infinite wisdom, it is a waiting game with the 'puter to see if it turns off!
