Thats a 966A. You must drive it down the road backwards, BTDT we had one. The bad thing about them is their brakes, expensive to fix. Jim

They are pretty much indestructible. If it runs and has some life left in the engine, it will work for you. Jim

Right we had an old Hough If you wanted to move it go slow or drive it backwards. My brother ditched it hard because he put it in roadgear.

Hi
That thing looks like a weapon. you'd better get on to the government, to find out what permit you need to own it before buying it!L.O.L.
we had a newer cat loader when I worked it the tractor wreckers. can't remember the number but was probably only 10 or 15 years newer than this one.

Thing would lift anything, I picked a 2135 white up with it one day and took it in the shop.
Getting it to move with air leaks in the system was a pain till the boss welded the line one day.

The story was the not very silent partner in the business, brought it for scrap money one day, and it appeared on the yard the next morning.
3 weeks later he did the same with a huge crane. Nobody in the company was licensed to legally operate it, He had a dumper and backhoe, The joke at the time was, he had been deprived of an Ertl construction set as a kid, and was making up for it with a real set now!.
Regards Robert

that thing looks like from the 50"s. the one i used on the rigs 25 yrs. ago was also a monster but got the job done. big old clumsy thing, but go for it.

LOL... Something like that. All that remained was the hat.

Lyle"s 966 carries logs perpendicular to the tractor. Unless you only want short logs, impossible on my mountain, they have to be in line with the tractor. Nice to carry them dirt-free.

BTW, when I was shopping I never found a big old loader with functioning brakes. Inexpensive to rebuild them. All four wheels, which I found a major improvement over farm tractors. I road her frontwards. Manual says she"ll do 23 mph, but not with me driving. Somebody"s gonna get hurt if she gets away from you.

Streight frame 966 is quite old but when we had them they were good old loaders. Sure nothing hard to work on.
