diesel sending unit float fix

My sending unit float on the 6000 Ford has a small hole in it so it is now more of a "sink" than a "float". Is there any type of silicone or epoxy that is rated for use in diesel? I would rather not try soldering it for fear of really messing it up. Any other ideas?

Have you checked to see if they sell that part seperate ?

Our local radiator shop also sells gas tanks and senders. You might check with your local shop to see if that float matches anything common.

By chance is it a round brass float? 1 1/8 x2"
Ford use's a float like that a lot..

Available at a Ford Car Store # COAZ-9202-B

It doesn't have match just be close to the size to fit. Any parts house should be able to help they don't cost that much.

Hello Jack Collie,

If you are good with soldering, it will work just fine.
Use the thinnest solder you have and dab it on,
Just be sure not to get it TOO HOT!

Guido.

I don't know if RedKote gas tank sealer works with diesel fuel or not? I dipped the carburetor float from my Oliver 66 in it and it sealed a leak in the seam of that alright.
