White International 385 - why

I have an International 385 that I have had for about 25 years. It has been a great tractor. I have worked it harder than it was ever meant to be. I recently bought a new tractor so I was cleaning up the 385 to sell it. When I was pressure washing it, I found that it was originally painted white. I talked to the person that had bought it new and they said it was painted red when they got it. Can anybody tell me why it was painted white originally?
Thanks for any info you can give me,
Tom

If it was bought new red, I doubt it was repainted prior to sale.

Now, many commerical / industrial / government buyers painted stuff weird colors, so could have been a cancelled order as well.

The 385 seems to have been popular for non farming use, most of the 385 and 395 I've seen advertised was been turf specials or otherwise non ag applications.

We had a brand new 385 in 1985.
