Has anyone got information on scrapping defunct tractor batteries. I find I have accumulated several over a few years.
I realize most places want the old core. So they must be worth something, but where??

I hauled quite a pile of them to a metal recycler earlier this week. 4520 lbs @ $.20 a pound = $904.00.

There's a scrap yard 2 miles from me that pays 30 cents a pound for them. I gathered up a bunch and came away with $187 a year or so ago.

I'm an Interstate Battery dealer and I take them. Interstate gives me $10 per automotive and $15 per tractor/truck. I give the customer $7.50/$12.50

Call around. Some scrap yards won't take batteries, epa. Some may pay $3 and other may pay $8 or more, call for the best price.

Scrap battery prices are all over the place. Some buy by the pound some by the group size and some flat rate. I have found if you can sell by the pound you come out a lot better.
