Ground hog lost the battle

Well just a few minutes ago the ground hog that had been eating my garden got a head ache 22cal type that is. I had set the live trap with melon rinds as bait close to the green beans and when I went to check eggs there it was. Maybe this will stop my green beans from going bye bye so fast

That has to be some relief !!! As much as I like this particular animal, sometimes they persist too much on making a living from ones garden ! LOL !

Always something, we are getting hammered with heavy thunderstorms, along this cold front, just got home from a job fair, I see half my corn is down now, trees snapped off in several places, even got a puddle of water in the cellar (which is extremely rare being on a hill, gutters, well drained soil). Came in where the gray water pipe exits the concrete foundation. I've never seen water come in there, last time I saw a trickle we got the 10" rain from Irene, and that just went to a floor drain. Driveway is washed out a bit too.

Well when they start taking food from me then it is there turn to find another place to live or die because they ate one too many green bean

You friends with everybody near you?

I rarely see a ground hog on my mountain but I (live) trap a lot of rats. Released from the live trap a couple miles up the road where one or more of the sons tried to break in to my shop awhile back, followed the oil drips right to the trailer. Don"t know if they ever noticed the increased rat population but I"ve dropped off more than a few. Much more satisfying than shooting them.

Good luck with your beans. Around here folks with ground hog problems figure that when you shoot one another moves into the vacancy. Horse country, it"s a problem.

Amen brother! Somebody on the N forum said I wuz cold hearted for feeing the chicken snake a golf ball. By golly, I feed them chickens and take care of them. No snake is going to help themselves if I can help it. :x

I have found if you take a plastic Easter type egg and put the golf ball in it they take it better. Yep I feed snakes plastic eggs when they steal my eggs

Had some one tell me to trap them put the trap by there hole and then make a funnel into it but leave the trap it self uncovered so it sees day light. This person said it will not notice there is a trap and walk right into it. Of course that is if your using a live trap

Barbeque out doors with some hardwood scraps.Once the word gets out that you roast woodchucks they will stay clear of your garden.
