Wife helping with hay

Overheard my wife telling her son how much we do putting in hay for my brother in law, how we cut, rake, bale and sometimes even deliver the hay all for a half of beef. Now this would not have been all bad but I think one time she brought me out a bottle of water for me. After 20+ years of marrage you would think a man would learn to keep his mouth shut but stupid had to explain to her she was no more help than the brother in law. Someday I will learn to not listen in on her conversations, shut up and smile.

not the best way to get a good supper....however my mother was a good one to tell these stories. just smile...a hard lesson to learn.

I know where you're coming from, I often hear the same sort of thing.
How "we" did this and "we" did that. My tongue gets sore from the teeth marks!
She does do all the other work that leaves me the time to do mine though.
Guess that counts as "we". :)

I've learned not to spout off about SWMBO, because I know WHO butters my bread. Now, my daughter is a different story........

If I said something like that to wife, I would have to have my shoes on and heading out of the house for the day.

One needs to approach a situation like this(if you dare at all) with the same precautions you would take hunting. You just don't walk up on a (fill in the blank, deer, etc.) and shoot it do you? Of course not! Careful tracking, waiting, watching, positioning, subtlety, timing, and all kinds of strategies go into this.
So, next time(again, if you dare) wait it out. Plan. Think. Then when the right audience is present, claim joint credit for something she does alone! When she reacts, bring up the haying situation, (or one like it) and explain how "we" "are sharing everything, just like we should!" "Isn't that sweet?"

BTDT. My wife said she was done with cows. One day she and some of her friends from work are having a little party, I come home to see her charging down the driveway with a bucket of grain going to show her homies "her cows". Came by my brother's house one day to him and a bunch of *his* friends. He was pointing to some of my cows (my pasture borders his lawn) telling then all about "our" registered cattle and such. The only thing he has that's "registered" is a Toyota, lol...

Around here, everyone wants to be a farmer... until there's work to be done. :?

My brother does that too. He lives in what used to be Grandma's house on the farm. Never helps out unless we plead with him to help mow hay (it's hard to do with just 2 guys, seems like you never get done). Never drives tractor for us.

But when someone else is here "oh yeah. We're doing ok this year, but OUR corn could be better...." etc etc....

I've never seen his name on a bill, and I've never seen his butt on a tractor hauling manure, plowing, tilling, planting, cutting hay, chopping, or anything else.

The bills go to Dad, but most of the field work and repairs are my deal.

id it ever cross your mind to just ask her to help?
A good wife will jump right in

My wife said to me "we need to spread the manure" I said what's with this we sh_t.She didn't talk to me for awhile.Peace and quite.

Good Lord Amighty! I have shot off my mouth so many times when I was younger only to have to put out the fires it caused. I finally learned to keep it shut and say yes maam...no maam...I'll do that right now dear! We've been married for 37 years and I have learned...but first I had to unlearn what I had already learned in life to learn the above...lol

Now what really got me was we have 2 boys and growing up they would be outside with me when I was off. I might just sometimes mumble something under my breath...maybe a bad word or two if I hit my hand...and it never ceased to amaze me how fast the "grapevine" aka motor mouthed youngins could race to the house and tattle on me. I guess youngins know which side their bread is buttered on...lol
