OT fella in Iowa that was putting a basement under his house

What ever happened to the fella in Iowa that was putting a basement under his house? I think he went by the handle Brian in Iowa ? His post were always interesting with great pictures showing his progress. Just wondering !!

Still here ! Not flooded or drowned by any means,,we need rain for that ,lol . Been way busy at work and home. Got walls all done, house down on block . Half floor poured, rock in yesterday for other half. Hope to have floor poured next week or two . Been a long hard project . Had couple great buddies to help me and lots of good advice from guys on here . Roughly three years working on it . Mostly weekends and night or to during the week . Building inspector was kinda riding me on it. I asked him if anyone had ever undertaken a project like this around here. He replied,,"no,,,well there was a guy out in the country ,took him ten years ,then he died " lol He has been really helpful too,and I know he has people to answer to . Trying to put together an album of the project ,start to finish. . Furnace guy and plumber get their stuff laid out next week ,then framing starts . wife wants bedrooms down there by christmas. Guess I need to show her how to run an air nailer? lol

Brian, right after my sister married a farmer in 72 there was a cute article in a farm mag about a woman who married a farmer. Said the first year they were married he built a shed and when she ask if he needed help he said no. The following year he expanded the feed room and again she ask if she could help. He ask if she could hold the end or a board while he got nails started. The following year they built a new calf shed and he ask.....are you done with your side yet?

So now's the time to tell your wife about all the work you have done so far and ask her is she's got those rooms built yet.......don't forget to duck  .

FYI: Bryan don't neglect learning about radon gas. Leading cause of cancer among non-smokers(I think) Iowa is a very high level state, it seeps into nearly every basement up thru the soil.Needs to be power or passively vented so unhealthy levels are not in those living areas. Check it out please. gobble

Bryan, you've done a lot of hard work and have followed through with it. I admire that. Of course with you being an Iowan I'm not surprised. LOL Jim
