OT race cars, but tractors too

Here is a link to some photos that I took last weekend at Motorsports Park Hastings when the Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing group came to town.
This is at Hastings, NE.

They do have a tractor or two at the track for mowing and dirt work.

Motorsports Park is out east of town, isn't it?

Around 1970, we raced occasionally at the fairgrounds track. Back then, we were running a '56 Chevy with a punched out 327 and big Holly four barrel carb. Only the rules there had a 307 cubic inch limit and a two barrel carb rule. Plus they had a $50 protest rule.

I took a 283 block, bored it .125, and put 327 pistons in it. It figured out to 301.44 cubic inches. Also, some '63 and '64 Olds 88's and Pontiac Catalinas had a huge Rochester two barrel carb. I took one of those carbs and an adapter plate, and played with jets til I got the thing running almost as strong as with the four barrel.

We'd go out there completely legal and try to sucker the locals into protesting us. They didn't like us.

I am a little too young to remember much of the track at the fairgrounds. The "Good old days" from what everyone talks about those times. I made many trips to pit crew at Mid Continent at Doniphan though. Looks like you were in the middle of it all!

MPH is on Hwy 6 just east of town. Great track to race around or just watch. I'll temp you with the Vette you can rent to go through the driving school.

Well,If you can't find something you like in all those photos, you just don't like racing! I like the little blue office for "pit stops"!!!!
