I heard the weather report tonight, the only area of Iowa not in drought is where JD Seller lives. He must be doing something right.

so r u saying that you have lost yield from drought in corn or beans? Just wondering, We have had 16 inches of rain in June alone. its wet.
located in Ontario canada.

Would you believe after the 15 inches we got the first part of Aug that we are now in a drought again?? We hav not had more then a 1/4 inch of rain since that Friday that we had the last 5 inch rain

I'm trying to do my part, scheduled a concrete pour for tomorrow morning and planned a camping trip for the weekend...Any other time that would begin monsoon season, but doesn't look that way this time.

We definitely have lost yield, but it is better than last year. It was a dry spring, then we got soaked the month of June, then really no rain since then.

I planted short maturity beans early, so they are not doing too bad. The later ones and the corn are hurting. I had planned to sow oil radishes on the bean ground after they came out.

I just is not my turn in the barrel this year. LOL It is about darn time!!!!!

We chopped a little to get some room to move some dirt. Got six BIG loads off of just over an acre. There was not running fast with the chopper. It was FULL.

The rains are real spotty. Last Thursday night we got 4 tenths. Just north of 20 they had over 2 inches in places.

Thanks to the man up stairs for a good crop this year.

A week ago I talked to a farmer who lives north of Carroll IA and he said they've only had a few drops since June 21. Since our conversation they had an inch but it's too late to help them. My little neighborhood usually is shorted for rain but this summer we haven't been shorted as much as others have. We've had about 2 3/4" total from six rains in the past seven weeks. The sandy places aren't good at all but the low spots might do a respectable yield IF the frost holds off another month or more. I was in Missouri Valley Ia a couple of days ago and their corn looks very good. There's no browning at all, in fact it looks a little too green for this time of year. Jim

I am probably 45 miles from you, and have gotten a lot less rain. It seems like the rain stayed at or north of HW 20.

I live north of Oskaloosa Iowa in the south east part of the state and everything has burned up here. Ground is as hard as cement. I do a lot of backhoe work and today I dug 6 foot deep before I got to any moisture.

Some people do not understand that if you get 15 inches of rain in a week then you have temps in the 90-100 and no rain for 3 week how you can have a drought. Sorry but that is a no brainier unless your stupid. Yes here in Missouri it is said your a week away from a flood or a drought and in the 33 years I have lived here I have seen a flood one week and a drought in the next week. 15 inches of rain in one week runs off and so does no good the next week when the temps get over 100

Most of it fell hard and ran off,our soil does a poor job of holding moisture, and we get lots of heat..In the summer we cant go much over 2-3 weeks without rain..

I had 13" of rain from July 20th to Aug 9th and now we are very dry again....All weve had is .10" since Aug 9th....No rain in sight for the next 10 days..The soybeans are in trouble..
