500 case no start

Hi, I have a 500 case diesel, that has sat for 12 years inside, fuel was really bad, drained, changed 3 filters, primed system, repaired the shear pin in transfer pump, repaired govenor rod movement, etc. It fires on either, but will not start, as in not getting fuel...PLEASE HELP !! Anytime tractor sets that long there is usually hydraulic head damage too, either the plunger is broken or drive gear guide broken. May also have quill shaft damage too.
 
have you bleed the fuel system for air? usually this is the problem, those bosh pumps seem to give trouble picking up prime. at least mine did. loosen injector lines and check for fuel by cranking engine. lots of times i just had to blow a bit of air in tank to get filters bleed. i just used a rag around air nozzle so no danger of too much air pressure.
 
I don't know much about diesel pumps, as I am a car mechanic. Is there something I can pull on this pump, to check out what is going on, as I have a spare pump, but seems to not want to turn over, and don't want to force it. Is there some sort of high pressure valve I should check? If I pull the top off the pump, would I find anything? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks Neil in N.Dak.
 
I just repaired a 500 Case pump that had the head damaged, drive gear guide was broken, just one of many parts that's no longer available. I usually need 2 or 3 pumps anymore to get one that works. Any salvageyard pump that was running when removed, after it dries out inside parts break the first time it's turned. If they are left as is I can usually save them after a complete teardown and cleaning.
 
Do you have fuel coming out of the third stage bleeder?? I have filled with a squirt oil can till full and had them fire up. Make sure you know it is bled before pulling the pump.
 
We always had to park our 400 on a slope with the back wheels higher than the front to get it to bleed out the air.
