JD brakes fade

Hey guys,
Along with my Farmall 460, I have a "modern" tractor - a JD 5303. Nice sized utility tractor.

Twice lately the brakes have "faded" after extended use - first after running a loaded hay wagon on an approx. 10 mile round trip and then once after my son rotary mowed for about 2 hours.

Next day after each incidnet, brakes seem fine. Any ideas?

They are hydraulic wet disk brakes. The brake valve is right above the pedals.

Jack one wheel up and see if it free wheels. I have seen the brake valve mess up and not release pressure. Then the brakes get hot and do not work as well. When the valve messes up the brakes are dragging.

If they free wheel alright then I don't have any other simple ideas.

Beside brake valve causing brakes to drag as JD seller mentioned there are 3 springs in axle trumpet on each side that can get weak causing brakes to drag. My neighbor had to R&R axle housings to renew the springs on his 5310 tractor.
