would like to know on the flotation head how to tell if the small lift spring is good or bad? The flotation head is off by three to four inches from left to right.
I know that the weight test is 65 to 70 lbs. but have no scale to weigh. I don"t want to have the head hitting to hard from coming down when cutting.

any help will be apreciated

Setting the float springs is not hard. Just let the head down into the cutting position. Then lift the head by hand on the push bar. Just adjust it to where it feels the same on both sides. How heavy it is on the ground is not an exact number anyway. If you get it too light it will ride over the hay. If you get it too loose then the skids will mark the stand. I usually adjust mine to where I can lift it with one hand. That is usually about right.

If you notice that the cut is wavy, as in varying between close and maybe five inch stubble, you will know that you have it too light.

I always park my haybine in the same place and set the skids on two 6 inch tall blocks, to keep the springs stretched some, seems if I park it in the transport position it will stay light and bounce for the first couple of rounds.
