Stover Auction just got back

Boy was it a long hot day. My partner and I got a few smalls. He picked up a couple rotary hoes I think you would call them. Sort of like a disk but has the teeth with angled spikes on them. He got the pair for around $300 or so. I get to use the smaller pull one for parts to fix the bigger 3 point one.
I picked up a bunch of tool heads like a double bit axe 2 of them and a bunch or other such things. A vise/anvil combo a forge blower and a buzz saw blade.
The tractors sold for prices that where way out of this world. JD H sold for around $1250 and most where bringing in 2-3 times what they where worth as scrap. One guy said he finally found one that was not locked up

Just got home too. Was able to get the ford 5 bottom semi mount plow for $200 which we were happy with. Got a few ford parts worth the money but like you said the tractors were high. I was only interested in the fords and they were all about double what I wanted to give. I can't believe they had so much stuff. They said the next sale will have the same amount or more as today.

Good to know that they were not going for scrap anyway, but it sure can be frustrating to go to an auction and have everything get bid way above what you want to pay.

So I guess we missed out meeting each other. I was easy to spot. I was wearing a Volvo Penta cap gray tee shirt and had a black cane. My son who was there also has tattoos and was wearing Navy Camo pants and started out with a camo jacket but after a bit took it off and then you could see he was packing a hand gun. My friend I was with also had a cane and a knee brace on

Oh I forgot to say as for what else is on the place. Well that was just the tip of the ice berg. Years ago when the old man was still alive and got the chance to have a fair look see of his stuff and he had balers dozier combines and just about any and all types of equipment and cars and trucks you could think of

I think I saw you. Should have asked yesterday what you might have on so we could have talked. I was wearing a ford/new holland pulling shirt with a da bomb and the rocket alcohol lss tractors on it. I was trying to pay attention and stay cool. I have been to all 3 auctions and everyone says there is just tons more left. I don't know if there would be another place in the country that has this much stuff. Its just interesting to see what they will bring out next.

I just went and looked at the pictures of the tractors on the sale again and I didnt see very many that I would have given much over $500 for..Stuck engines, missing parts, and rotten tires turn these in to money pits when restoring them...I am glad that they sold high enough to keep the scrappers away..

Late last year I went to a sale at Pomona,KS with 100 old tractors..One scrapper got 36 of them at prices ranging from $200-$600 each...A real nice GVI MM on LP sold for $600 and was scrapped..

A few weeks after that I went to a sale north of Tulsa,OK with 70 old tractors..Lots of running tractors sold for $300-1000 each..A nice running SC Case sold for $475 and two nice H Farmalls sold for $450 each..An M Farmall with all new tires sold for $1250..A dozen running 2N,8N,and 9N Fords sold for $300-500 each..A good running KTA Twin City sold for $700..

Whens the next sale? Will there be lots more tractors? Are there any old combines still left? Sounds like an interesting place..Its funny that I've collected old tractors off and on since 1976 and had never heard about it until now..

They must have done a poor job of advertising these sales because we that live 100 miles to the southwest had never heard about them until this one and thats only because of ytmag..

The Bomb and The 504 Rocket looked pretty good at Jeff City a week ago Friday evening..Brian Bowles had problems which I hated to see..

Old man Ezzards was not well liked at most farm sales in the area. I guess the seller liked him cause he ran up the prices of "junk". My day would watch and if Mr. Ezzards was bidding on something he would walk away.

He was always seen at the end of the sale loading up all the junk stuff.

We finally quit going to farm sales through the 70's and 80's cause we felt we could buy stuff new for the same money as used junk.

I didn"t know about the last one till the week before. They put this one on auctionzip.com.

This year was the first time I hadn"t been to Jeff since it started and seen the results and seen they ran good hated I missed it. Brian seems to always have bad luck at Jeff but looked like it ran good Saturday.

You"re not ready to sell your Ford 611 yet are you? Been looking but haven"t seen any. I never did try to learn anything about the one in Kansas you had pics of.

Did you hear the auctioneer at one time say do not cross the fence?? There is a whole lot more way out in them woods and barns. Good and bad thing is most sold for way to much which helped keep scrappers away but not help the little guy. By the way in the summer I pretty much wear the same thing. Gray Tee shirt and blue jeans and a ball cap. If the weather is not real hot a cap that says Navy vet if hot a white or some such so as to help keep cool

Not ready to sell my 611 Ford...I was in Scottsville,KS in April and that 611 Ford is still there..

I was sure you weren't ready to sell it but it was worth a shot. If you ever do keep me in mind but I'm sure you've got a list wanting it. I need to take the time and sit down and try to track the one in ks down.

Unfortunately you guys are incorrect about the tractors not getting bought for scrap. I estimate that over 75% ARE actually going straight to the scrap yards. I know that bidder number 3232 bought 43 tractors and he stated that every one of them will go straight to the grinder. Friend of mine also bought 19, all of which are being scrapped. I bought 4, but will be parting mine out. I hated to see so many of these going to the scrap yard, but that's what happens...

Can not see how any of them can make $$ on them for what they seemed to be going for. So you also where there but we missed a chance at meeting each other

Two of the main buyers own their own scrap yards, so they get more for the scrap than we would. Also, they are each stripping out the radiators and any other precious metal that they might find in order to get more. I would say that on average, my buddy will make $200+ on each tractor he bought easily... maybe more than that.
