Retired from local school system, put in 33 years and 2 months. The first 20 was Audio-Visual repair, the last 13 has been with computer technical support. The Good Lord willing, I should be able to get more seat time on the tractors and do some fishing. I am going to buy some new equipment and try to put in a garden next year.

Congrats Jim!
Soon you'll wonder how you ever had time to work!
Or so I've been told! I'm still 8 to 5'n it.

One thing for you to remember, being retired means never haivng a day off.

for your wife to remember, retirement means twice the husband and half the money.

You'll love it . I don't know how i found time to do the same things i am doing now as when i was working. And we won't cross a mine field with the HONEY DO list.

whoops, meant to congratulate you as well as give Royse a hard time. So congrats, if ya kept this to yourself you could avoid a lot of things the wife has been thniking about needing done for years.

Congrats on your retirement. Hope you drive those tractors,
catch the biggest fish, and all those other things you been
wanting to do.

(quoted from post at 22:08:37 08/30/13) only 8-5? how you get off so easy? I can only get on here during breaks - lol
Kornfused, that's 8 a.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
Then I try to get to the honey-do list.
What are breaks? LOL

Good luck! I retired about 10 years ago. Then got bored so now I'm trying to get the farm going again. I thought 12-18 hour days were bad.......

Hi
I congrats on your retirement. Live every day of it like it might be your last.
An old friend of mine retired at 65.
He said he was so busy doing stuff, he didn't know how he had time to go to work, and he figured he needed to take on a hired hand, to help keep up with odd jobs!.
This guy worked his whole life self employed, as backhoe driver was never sick, he had a job for his hands but not his mouth, so smoked 20 a day.

Less than 2 years after retirement he was gone.
Just another one of those sad things that teaches a guy a thing or 2.
So hoping you get a long and Happy retirement to enjoy, with everybody that's close and special to you.
Regards Robert

I retired again on July 11th this year. Haven't had time to fish or golf. Seems like everybody waited till then to bring me their broken equipment. Think I'm gonna go back to work soon so I can get some off time LOL. Good Luck with your retirement. Keith

Congratulations.
Biggest thing is to always have something to do.Don't have to be much but keep busy.I've been out goin on 3 years and still not caught up but not bored either.Last week I was busy with some fall planting. This week maintenance and mowin.Always something. If we can get some rain we'll get one more hay cuttin. And if push comes to shove grab a fishin pole and regroup.Good Luck.

I am thinking about retiring but I still farm with a neighbor. I tell that farming is like marriage, it is easy to get into but hard to get out of!
