Hauling a corn picker

Hi all- I am interested in buying a corn picker and was wondering what you guys would think the best way to haul it. I am looking at a one row pull behind or a two row pull behind. Both are new idea pickets, maybe a model 323/324? I will be hauling it approx 200 miles and have a 9ftx25ft gooseneck trailer. Would I have to tear it down to load it? What have you done? Thanks

I have hauled both the 1 & 2 row. You have to have blocks to raise the front hitch to get the elevator low enough to be legal. I think you can back or pull on either way. They are not too wide.
Long as your trailer is not over about 40 inches think you can stay under 13.6 ft. Might have to let the air out of the tires. Worse case would be remove the wheels but don,t think that will be necessary.

It is a good idea if possible , to back the picker on. Even after tying the elevator down it will bounce much less. But make sure you are below all wires & etc , as pointing forward , it wants to catch what ever it can! I hauled a M-M picker over 500 miles , no problems. clint.

The easiest way is to remove the elevator as one drive chain four bolts and two pins . NOW comes the hard part she will NOT back up on the trailer if it is a two row, and YOU will have to get and oversized permit to haul. So to load you will need a stout loader and set it on the trailer so that the over hang is on the right side . Or you can tear it apart by sliding the elevator off then the husking bed the snouts and the hitch and make it fit. A little more work but you then can get it loaded legal. I have tore a few apart before to haul . Oh yea pull the tires also.

I bought a pair of Oliver 73's one time, two row about 50 miles away. Built a hitch that stuck out the left side of the pickup so they would trail behind the truck and pulled them home. Only thing if you hit the brakes hard it would torque the truck to the left pretty bad, but rolled them home about 40 mph without any problems.

Pulled a NI narrow home 60 miles last week. He had 2 very interested parties wanting to buy it, one in the south, one on the west coast, but neither could figure out how to ship it - they are about 11 feet wide and 11 feet deep, just the frame, so tough to haul.

I believe they were shipped from the factory with the elevator off, sitting on the back.

I offered to haul a NI 2 row for a friend 50 miles. I have a 34' hyd dove tail trailer. He wants to pull it up the trailer with his little MF 28HP tractor. I can winch it if needed and plan on a forklift or loader to pick up the right side. Then get forward and block the right side hanging off. Probably have to lower the elevator. My trailer is 34" off the ground. Have done this back in the later years when I hauled iron. The tires are not good enough to pull it.

here is a new idea two row pull type we hauled from wisconsin
