Mornin' Guys,

You can always tell when the summer is winding down around here.

Started planting wheat yesterday. :>)

Yes,

Hard Red Winter wheat. The trick is to get it up, out of the ground and covered before winter sits in.

Well yeah,

But, this drill never sits outside. Next year, she'll need another set of points.

Otherwise, she plants like a dream.

That yellow front wheel on that International tractor sure is distracting. 'Seems that wheel has been on there for a while too??

Hey Allan, sure looks perty out there. Sky is beautiful. What was the temp. How was your wheat harvest? How many days will it take you to plant? Still early for here. I see some ryegrass going in. Wheat planting starts after the 15th....James

Nice picture, but we wouldn't had a field big enough to turn that drill around. We sheltered just about everything. Hal

Now that I've added wheat back into my corn/soybeans rotation, my wheat planting is after bean harvest. I live about 75miles southwest of wahoo; in the small town of Dorchester! My early planting is now sowing cover crop into wheat stubble. I'm just getting started, and have lots to learn, on this new adventure!

When I was a kid and uncle still milked cows rotation was corn, soybeans, wheat (straw), alfalfa. In Indiana the wheat would generally cover between soybean harvest and first snow.

Yep miss those days. SE corner of Nebr panhandle I would try and plant around the 1st of Sept, or after the 15th is i was running later. Even planted once on Oct 5th. Pulled 40" with a CaseIH 7110. About 5 miles an hour.
