Would you hire this person to operate your equipment or work on your job site? Would you purchase this tractor used ?

No, but apparently my employer thinks that the harder people are on equipment, the more valuable they are. As mechanic I have excellent job security, but im positive i could stay busy just doing routine maintenance/repairs with out all the carnage incurred by constantly operating in cowboy mode!

I'm a life long hoosier. A Hoosier dribbles a basketball around a 500 mile track while looking for mushrooms. Most have hit a deer or know someone who has. Many of my friends drive a "liquor-cycle", a moped. You can spot them at Lowes or Home depot. They wear shorts and a coat. They hand out advice on how to make a home improvement to the other people in the store. Mostly, because there is no sales people to be found.

Now I'll have to add WHACK-A-DOODLES to the list.

Sure there are more things to add to the list.

Around here you can rent a small 6 way dozer for about $250 for a day- You could push those little buggers out easily in that time frame, and save all the work of digging and grubbing. Not to mention the repair costs when you pull the drawbar apart (or bust out the casting its bolted to) or take a broken chain right in the kisser.

Since it was A John Deere there was no danger of him hurting himself, if that was a 9N he would be upside down. I think the 1023 is light enough he may not do too much damage, plus he wasn't get a lot of traction. Its knuckle heads like this guy that make the obituaries.

Owning both a both a dozer and a backhoe, I find it quicker and easier on the equipment using the hoe.

Never heard of a "liquor-cycle" or a WHACK-A-DOODLE. My first 3 vehicles did come from the dealership that provided rides to and from Indianapolis for the real "Hoosiers" team in 1954 (which was before I was born). Never dribbled a basketball at IMS, but I did march around the track 3 different years while in high school (North Dearborn HS 1973, East Central HS 1974 & 1976).

Would you wanna be the guy who rents the minitrackhoe after this guy had it? Unless the rental company can determine there was no real damage, you might not get your job done either. JMHO

I've worked with plenty of cowboys like this when we had big trucks. Guys that would redline a cold engine to build up air pressure on a cold day. Or guys that would start out in 2nd or 3rd gear because it was easier than using the granny gear and then having to shift thru the rest. Some of the idiots I've worked with, if you threw a pressure plate, a garbage can lid, and a circular saw blade on the floor, would use up all three guesses to tell you which was the part used in a clutch.

For all that digging and thrashing around a $250/day proper machine sounds cheap. Probably could have them blasted out for that too (and would"ve made a better video)

Sure made his moobs jiggle, though... If he'd put a little more physical work into the digging before hooking a chain on it, he'd live longer and so would his "tractor".

Kidding! That may be the stupidest thing I have ever seen anyone do. Lucky to be alive.

Liquor cycle?? some states don"t require a drivers license for "mopeds"- Ohio and Colorado come to mind- and the drunk drivers that loose their licenses can only legally ride the mopeds, no motorcycles, cars, trucks. Drunk cycle is another term based on that little quirk in the state laws- and the unlicensed drunks still go to the bars and get drunk and ride the mopeds, crash them-- but do much less damage to the public with the litle critters, still kill themselves. In Wisconsin the no drivers license required is applied to "implements of husbandry"--so some bars parking lots are half full of tractors. That note means this post is "tractor related" and fits the forum. RN

Is this a John Deere add showing how tough their lawnmowers are? (joking) The tractor lived through this abuse but I'm sure it shorten it's life.
This is sad to watch. I could have guessed what was about to happen when I seen him in new bib overalls with knee pads. A city slicker trying to be a farmer. Just goes to show how stupid some people can be.
Then the guy who commented that he should have hooked the chain to the three point. He's just as bad.
I would never try something so stupid and if I were stupid enough to try it, I sure wouldn't put it on YouTube. WOW!!

Perhaps it's a W centeral Indiana term.

A guy dressed like he rides a harley, comes out of a liquor store with a case of beer. Hops on a pink liquor cycle and drives away. That takes tallent. He left his pink liquor cycle running on the belly stand when he was shopping.

Another guy, stops at a light in town, drunk, passes out and falls over. Cop was right behind him. He gets 6 month to dry out.

Lots of liquor cycles in my town. Seems like everyone knows what a liquor cycle is:) Now you know there proper name.

What an idiot. Did anyone notice the chains appeared to be tied together instead of properly hooked with a grab hook? Looked to me to be a good way to get a chain flying into the back of his head if the knot let go....

Totaly and completely true. But looking at what this fool is doing, would you want him coming at you down the road with a 8000# cat on a car hauler pulled by a ranger or colorado??. Because that is just about how bright this fellow is.

Agree with you on that guy. I am surprised he and the tractor are in one piece. I was sure something back was going to happen before it was over.
