901 801 ford

im looking for a ford 801 or 901 rear end and 5 speed transmission i dont want the drop axles or selecto speed or the step up transmission

Then you don't want a 901 rear end... those all have the drop boxes. A 5-speed and rear end from an 800, 801 or 4-cylinder 4000 is what you need.

Confused here.

If you have a row crop 4000 SOS, you can use a five speed transmission from any of the later 961s or four speed 4000s.

You cannot use an 8xx series rear axle with your row crop differential assembly.

If you plan to use a complete rear axle assembly from an 8xx series tractor with your row crop front frame and bolster, one wonders. Doing so will lower the rear your tractor much lower than the front, destroying the three point geometry, etc.

Thought about that.

Though 38" rear rims/tires will recover some of the lost height, it will still be low in the rear unless he is going all the way to 16.9X38s.

The overall gearing will also be much too high for pulling.

There is a Ford 740 in Northern VT that used to be at a lot of the pulls. It had a 192 and the axle from an 800 and it runs down hill pretty good on the 18.4 x38s, even with that 800 rear axle.

the whole point of this i guess is to make a nice looking pulling tractor ive always wanted to do it i have a narrow front 4000 and the lowering of the front end would just be in your wheel and tire size ive tried that on my farmall m i put a single wheel in the front that had a 16-6 on it and im putting a 16-5 instead to make it lower

Sounds like you want to convert your row crop SOS tractor into a 5 speed standard. Easiest way to do that is to buy a different tractor. Other than the motor and trans, there is very little that's interchangeable between the standard and row crop tractors. Front end is totally different.

My 960 puller has 15.5x38s on the rear for traction and 14 inch fronts for reduced weight. It runs down hill to the front due to the tires only.
