Has anybody else been out doing fieldwork or something of that nature, and just got the feeling that something was watching you, or something just wasn't right?

I was out running the bush hog today and got off the tractor to toss some chunks of limb that had fallen, and were too big to run over. I started throwing those chunks of wood down into the woods, and all of a sudden the hair on the back of my neck stood up, and I got the feeling that I wasn't alone. I don't spook easily, but I ended up going back to Mamaw, and Papaw's house, and got a pistol to carry with me while I finished up. The feeling went away just before I got done. This happened on a ridge top mostly surrounded by woods, and mostly out of the sight of any houses.

Any one else have a story to share?

I've been out in the woods most of my life day, and night, and never got a feeling like that before.

Trust your instincts! I have no doubt that someone/thing was there with you. We have built in survival instincts that were developed over thousands of years that most people today choose to ignore.

I'm glad you did what you did.

Like you I don't spook easy, and I've never had that feeling while outside. However, I did get the same feeing a few times, years ago, when I was living alone in the house I grew up in. It usually happened at night and something just wouldn't feel right and I'd go around and turn every light in the place on. I never saw anything but just having the lights on seemed to make me feel better.

Years later, my parents rented the house out to a lady who told of a lady appearing at the kitchen table one night and had a conversation with her before disappearing. When she described the lady to my Mom, she went and got a pic of her Grandma(my Great Grandma) who owned the house before my parents did, and lay in state in the front room after she passed away. The lady had described Great Grandma Tilley and when she was the pic she just said that was definately the lady she had talked to that night.

A couple lived in the house later on and they told stories of items being moved from one room to another, doors opening and closing for no reason, etc. Having grown up in the house the things they described happening with the doors were things that couldn't happen without some 'outside' influence like the door opening uphill against the lean of the house, etc. Basically the things they described happening simply did not happen naturally.

Like I said, I never actually saw anything, but hearing the stories told by other, non-family members after the fact make me wonder if it wasn't Great Grandma Tilley 'watching over me' or simply watching me since I was family but wasn't born until after she was gone. Eerie I know but what other explination could there be?

One time I wanted to finish cutting my first cut maybe 8-10 years ago. The real estate guys owned the property and my old neighbors house was still (kinda) standing but I had seen evidence of bums using it for a flophouse. I finished about an hour after dark and the last 3=4 rounds were kinda hard to do. Had the same feelings You did, and also had a heck of a time swinging the tongue on my Hesston 1090. Man that's the fastest I ever drove heading down the lane that splits two 15 acre swamps...couldn't get out of there fast enough. Next day while tedding, walked right in the old house and nobody was there, wasn't scary either.

12 year old girl was attacked by a bear in Wexford County, north of Cadillac, this week while jogging. Can't be too careful!

That's the heck of it. I've bushhogged that several times, and deer hunted there, and this is the first time for any feelings like that. I would say that like you if I went back to that spot tomorrow everything would be fine.

Yes I have had that feeling, I lived in a house
with a ghost for three years. I never mentioned it
but a guy who grew up on the same farm asked me
about him one day. That made me know I was not
crazy. People can feel you watching them. I was
digging out the roots of a tree on my property and
heard an engine. I am way out in the country and
have no neighbors. So I sat down in the hole and
waited. Two young guys on a four wheeler rolled up
to the fence, opened the gate and cruised along
like they owned the place. They had not gone fifty
yards when they both looked over, saw me and
stopped. All they could have seen was my head and
shoulders. They then asked all innocent "is this
private property" I just pointed to the gate and
didn't say a word. They turned and headed back.
Never saw them again.

I have always carried while out by myself as i have farmed rented ground way out in the boonies . The pistola has three rounds of snake shot due to copperheads amd Moccasin the next three are hollow points. The rifle has a thirty round clip and is loaded with Ball and soft tip drilled and sliced . I have had run in's with DRUNKS and Shell we say CROP Farmers double croppen the ground i am farming . Each tractor has a rack for a rifle and the pistol is up on the steering support on either the 1066-806-706 . If i am going to be off the tractor then the pistol is on my side. If i am scouting fields the both are with me .

I have my ranch on the edge of 1000 miles of nothing but bush and swamp to the north and east of me. one late afternoon 10-12 years ago i went to bring the daily water to my bison on the furthest pasture on my property were there ain't a natural water hole.
It was a beautiful quiet fal evening and as i was waiting for the tank to drain in the trough the bison were slowly drifting closer to get a drink, then my dog(a yellow lab) that was sitting on the tailgate started shivering and whimpering pity fully and then i heard the most loud terrifying scream I've ever heard in my life made me nearly jump out of my skin rolling trough the forest for pretty near 1/2 a minute rising and falling and rising till it petered out with the saddest whimper, My skin was crawling and i had goose bumps all over.
It had startled the bison that had gathered around me and stomping their feet they looked ready to bolt, all of them looking in the direction of that horrifying sound. The dog had crawled nearly under the tank and was crying and whimpering as i never heard her do before.
Well i didn't linger and got the ell outa there,I was 2 miles from home had to go trough 5 gates which i opened and closed in record time all the while looking over the shoulder hoping that whatever can scream like that wasn't after me.

I have no clue as to what or who that can produce a sound like that and i hope i never find out cause it still makes my skin crawl even when i write this.
It sure as "ell wasn't a cougar cause i heard them here before,..this was 10 times worse.
My wife was at home and she had heard that awfull sound as well although not as loud. She asked when i got home,.. what happened back there?,..are you OK?,.you look so pale!

My brother and his wife moved into my parents' house after my dad died (in the house) and mom went into nursing home. My sis-in-law was the first to notice strange goings-on, along the lines of what NCWayne mentioned, and then my brother too. Weird things (noises, stuff falling, stuff moving, etc.) went on until Mom died, then nothing. As a rule I'm a pretty skeptical guy----but then, so was my brother. He nor his wife are "drama" folks, and the stuff they reported was very convincing.

The eeriest sould I've ever heard outside was from Screech Owl. I don't know how long they can carry their 'screech' but they product the most bloodcurdling sound I've ever heard. It's one of those sounds that if you don't know what it is you'd think someone was being brutally tortured really close by...even if they aren't. Still you wouldn't think something like that would scare the animals like your describing.

Maybe somebody had a patch of Mary-Ju-Wanna growing nearby and are keeping a watch on it? That happens in the forests here. Somehow they even install an irrigation system.

Years ago my parents moved in with us as they were getting up in years my dad passed away not soon after here in my house i don't know how many time i thought i saw him out the corner of my eye near the recliner he had his heart attack and passed in. this year i lost my mom 19 years after his passing and haven't seen him since.

Been quite a few years back but one night when I was working late in the shop trying to get a new tranny in my hay truck I was down in the grease pit working on the truck when I thought I could sense someone watching me, a few minutes later I could definately feel hot breath on the back on my neck, as I slowly turned around I was confronted with a very large black hairy face and about the time my heart skipped a few beats a large wet tongue licked me in the face. Turns out it was my neighbors black Newfoundland hound, real friendly dog but scared about 10 years off my life I think, never heard the dog come up behind me, after that I tend to close the shop door at night.

I am convinced it is a nature thing. Just a feeling or sense . This place is on a large peninsula surrounded by federal wildlife land on three sides. Been a time or two that I was sure I was being watched.

It is more of a ghost story than someone watching you story.

My wife was saying she heard young girls laughing down the hall when no one was there. I passed it off as a crazy minded wife. (hope she does not read that)

Anyway about a year later I was home alone sitting in living room watching TV; and my lab dog was laying on floor next to me.
All of a sudden dog jumps up and starts barking looking down the hall. He saw something. Hair raised on his back and growling.
Thinking someone had broken in threw a window I grabbed my gun and went down the hall.
By this time the dog was barking and scratching at a solid wall like something had went right threw the wall.
Never did find or see anything myself but I am convinced that dog saw something.

This is a house that I built new in a area of about 3000 acres of woods before this area was built on. Only people that could have lived within 1/2 a mile of my house before I did was Indians.

I plan on going back there tomorrow, won't have time today. We'll see what happens, or if I find anything.

A guy I work with had a relative that saw coyotes in the field while he was combining at dusk. They would just stand there as he went by. One round he decided to get down and run them off. They growled and wouldn't back off, he got scared and back up the ladder he went. Always carried a gun after that. He said they were seen in other places, singles and pairs so he started carrying all the time while he was away from the home place.

Growing up we had a 100 lb. hog die at a place we rented about a mile up the road. It backed up to a municipal park wildlife refuge. We just drug the hog back into the weeds along the refuge fence, a tall chain link fence. Took me and my brother to move it about a 100 ft. down a slight grade on the back side of the old barn. Being kids facinated with gross stuff we went back a week or so later to see the state of decay. The pig was GONE. Absolutely no sign it had been there, no bones, no meat, guts, nothing. How big an animal would it take to drag off a 100 lb. hog? We didn't want to find out so we never went back there alone.
