update, sediment bowl

Howdy,
I removed the gas line and sediment bowl also the
nut in the carb with the screen attached. All I found was some flakey, rusty stuff that almost disintigrated when I hit it with the carb cleaner. I put it back together it started right up no drips. However, it wants the choke partially closed or it dies, I can't seem to get the carb adjusted to where the engine is happy.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bob

now you got to clean the rusty flakey stuff out of any sreens between the sediment bowl and the carb and the carb as well.

You need to take the carb apart and the needle valves out to clean the jets, I would think they are clogged.

Closing the choke cuts off the air to the engine and causes a higher vacuum in the intake manifold which causes it to suck more gas thru the carb.

An engine needs 4 things to run efficiently.

1. Air
2. Fuel
3. Compression
4. Ignition

The air fuel mixture has to be proportionate for the engine to run continually.

I have a set of guitar strings that i find work well for chasing out the chambers in the carb. I usually use the 2 smallest strings... i dont play, but got used ones from a friend

You need to clean the carb. Use small drill bits to clean passages turning them with your fingers when you pull one back out look for stuff on the end that tells you if your getting it clean. Compressed air and cleaner doesent always get all he junk from the passages
