Hey Old, unless the pics are not dong it justice, it looks better than I expected it would after viewing the rushing water.

That must be your K10 or 20, almost the same color as my burnt orange K10, same year '80 if I recall, though mine is rusted out, drivetrain is like new under it. I guess you have some grading to do, at least its receded quite a bit !

Ya it is a Scottsdale 1980 Chev Heavy half custom. I rebuilt the suspension. It has extra springs on the rear and coil over shocks all around. Been know to pull loads that where a tad bit on the heavy side. Plates on it are 18K so as not to get stopped for being over load as for the tags

Ya it has been flat out crazy as for the weather since you left. Talked to a few people and no one can remember it being like this before and those are people who have lived here all there life's and there parents also lived here all of there's

Ya these pictures where taken around 3:30 PM so had lot of time to go down. The big problem is, is putting the gravel back to where it should be. Lots of spots where the gravel is 12-18 inches deep and others where clay is showing. And then you have that pond in the middle of the road which has a wet weather spring on the one side of it so that will be a hard one to fill back in. Years ago we had that spot get soft and had to haul in 50 dump truck loads of gravel before it got hard again

Nothing wrong with that hood that is just what a 1980 Chev hood should look like. LOL Plus if I put a new hood on the body would fall off due to the extra weight of the new hood. LOL Cab supports are rusted so bad I have 2X6s between the frame and the cab so that the clutch will work

Thats not even my land. My driveway is a mile long and most of the land it owned by other people which is a pain in the back sides. Good number of those trees and hurt you badly if you try to get to close the them since they have inch long thorns on them

I've seen a lot of hoods of that era('73- '80) bent. Oiling the hinges regularly would help prevent the bend. IIRC aftermarket hood braces were sold for them.

Yes. I had one bend like that Stopped in a pals body shop. First he oiled the hinges, then he laid a 16 inch long 2x4 on the bend, hit it with BFH and it was good as new.

You are right, we had a 50' box trailer dropped to load a bunch of stuff into for storage years back and when he came to move it the driveway was slick with ice/snow, and the tractor got stuck, then the big tandem tow truck got stuck, he should have stayed on the pavement, I hooked onto the tow truck and pulled from the pavement in 4 low, incredible I got him out, and sure I did not pull the whole load, but I will say, it was still darned heavy and a lot of strain, mine is a 4 spd with a NP 203 or 205, cast iron case, it was an auto, but I put a 4spd in it, all those older trucks were certainly built quite strong, especially for a 1/2 ton, I too put heavier springs in the back, a long time ago when I drove it, it would get through snow my '96 F 150 would have trouble with, I have made it thru with a snow plow on with the rocker panels rubbing hard on deep snow, some stories with that old truck for sure LOL !

Ya and it has lots of deer and turkey to boot. Sad thing is the but head neighbor will not let a person hunt on it and he has been trying to stop me form driving in and out

Ya mine too has the 4 speed and 307 gears so I get upwards of 17MPG when I tune it up. Cab is in sad shape and has 2X6s sitting under it in places to help hold it up so the clutch will work. Last winter the transfer case fell out of it and I had to do a lot of work to fix that

It was like that when I got it so even after I oiled it it did not help any. Once bent they never work the same unless you add the braces to them. Fixed more then one of them old hoods over the years and figure I can live with it like it is. Truck only gets used in weather like this or for farm stuff so maybe 500 miles a year if that

I remember you had some issues to repair, mine is in similar shape, frame is still ok,but its sat for years, I had been using it to push snow, few odds and ends now to get it running, I put some money into tuning it, headers and exhaust, as that was a cheap fix to get those exhaust fumes out of the cab, got the exhaust given to me, lucked out, but one side I just can't get the pipe bent right to get around that case, starter went, trans, case and what I put into it came from a low mileage farm truck parted out in '93. Motor was new, got that from a junkyard, early 350, ran perfect, really ought to try and get back to it before winter, so I don't have to use the tractor so much for snow. I screwed up the timing well the plug wire order, had all new parts even under the cap, need to have a buddy come over and help, go through the order again, check for spark, by now the fuel system is probably going to be a task, this is what happens when you have too much stuff hanging around LOL !!!

You mentioned a mile long drive way mostly through other people"s land. Wow, no other way in?? You must be in some pretty remote area!!!

Well I wish I could say I do not under stand but since I have 2 tractors sitting by my shop that I have been working on and then with all this rain the one I needed fixed yesterday would not start the day I needed it most so a tune up which had not been done in 10 years or so and off it went till the rear tire went flat and yep it is filled with washer fluid. Just got that fixed and refilled.
Taking a break and came in and doing pickled eggs

Not all that remote since town is just 7 miles form me. Missouri has a law that states you can not land lock a person. My dad started buying this land in 1976 and this road has been here since before then but when I moved here it was more or less a wagon path so I hauled thousands of loads of gravel on it in the past 33 years I have lived here

It was the way you say before all this rain but some how the rain when it gets 12-24 inches deep does odd things to driveways. I have built many roads in this area over the years but then again I was a dump truck driver in this area and helped build many hwys and such
