Looks like the Speed Patrol is going to get a workout after this is all over. Is your house high enough to be out of danger?

man .rich ., I feel for you folx ,spoke with thad at ruscha on wed.. he said they were muddin around the lot ,no doubt you are not too far from there . rich ,,I see the driveway flow ,. would you think it was a ft deep?? do you actually have flow goin thru your barn ? creek nearby ?.. that much rain ,, is sure to take some lives ..so be careful ../.jh

Ya I placed my house where it is due to what happened in 1986 which was a 100 year flood and where it sits the water was an inch deep. As for the speed patrol it will be the Ford 841 with loader that gets the hard work and the speed patrol the finish work.
This picture is the front of the horse barn. At least I do not have the shovel the manure out of it

When I took that picture the water was a good 18 inches if not deeper. Yep the horse barn has been washed out twice this week and the lower bales of hay may not be very good due to the water getting to them. As for dead so far there is 2 known of a this time a 4 year old boy and his mother and that was down at Ft Lost in the Woods area

I have lived here 33 years so not my first joy ride but yes it is a pain in the back sides. I'll probably be working on the driveway till this time next year just putting gravel back on

This is really a tragedy. Hang in there and most of all be safe! Almost afraid to ask, but do you still have power?

We're here for you.

This must be like a 500 year event? We had some awful flooding in 2011, after a solid 10" of rain, it was hard to imagine being possible, the damage, you always think it happens in flood plains, the roads and bridges that were washed out, well hopefully that more plentiful crop of hay there is enough to carry you, + I hope it dries so you can get the 2nd cut.

We got inundated in June, then finally the jet stream changed, now you guys are getting it. We just got a soaker, that was needed, hopefully this weather lets up on you !!!

Ya when I was out taking pictures I moved the Oliver S88 and the NH850 baler due to the fact water was up high enough on the rear rims to be above the rim it self on the ground side and the hay pick up was pushing water as I moved them. One good thing is the S88 fired right up

Power yes. Only went off for a few minutes yesterday. Bad thing is, is that the loader tractor had a flat yesterday and I need to get to town to get a new tube for it.

Old - if you need someone to come down and lend a hand - let me know. I grew up in a flood prone house so I know what a mess it can be.

Thats a tough situation when hemmed in like that, you need some luck for sure, one of those times you wish you were closer to help like all farmers used to do, get the problems sorted first and figure out the rest later.

I went and bought a 14hp kohler engine from a young farmer 55 miles west of here who has ground adjacent to a large creek, (link below). I could not believe the water mark height in his barn, it had to be over 12' maybe 16'. It is scary, I passed over this creek in '87 with a tractor trailer, shortly before the sections of bridge collapsed, sure is nothing to fool with. We lost an old railroad and vehicle bridge near here in March '77, piers got washed out or something, when mother nature gets angry look out !

Dang I feel for you. My son lives on the Ky. river, he has had 5 one hundred year floods since 1978. This storm just went south of us so far, guess it just wasn't our turn.

Goat do there best to stay in where it is dry they do not like rain. The horse depending on what it is doing stay on the higher ground or in the barn. Yep did not get any of them in the pictures. So far the horse are getting there feet a little wet but that is it

Well so far the only thing that will be a pain is fixing the driveway. The hay well that will become compost what I can not use of it.
But thanks. How are you at driving an old ford 1 ton dump truck with only front brakes LOL

Shoot if I did that then I would have to build a boat and when I was in the navy I spent all the time I ever wanted to on and under water

Ya some times that works if the tree is not to big or to small. Will top wait for the creek to go down and the road to firm up going down to the creek before I can haul any gravel back onto the driveway

Some times you live near the river, sometimes the river is near to you! Stay safe, move out if you have to. We know about flooding here in Ireland. I have 60 acres which is under water every winter. But more people drown in the summer time, when it gets hot.....they go looking for water.
Many streets in Belfast will flood during heavy rain, but then a pizza box is the same size as a road gully!....when they learn how to dispose of their litter the streets will not flood as often!
I hope you come out OK
Sam

Never made it to Ireland but did make it to England and Scotland back in my Navy days. Always thought it was strange to have fish and chips and be severed on news print

Not likely to catch fire since it sits on pallets so with drain and dry just not going to be good to sell. I always do a double stack of pallet then set the bales on them and in the past have had a few get wet the same way and been just fine
