Just worth mentioning, it did a fly over my house, today, says august 10th, so maybe it will be here til then, just a side note, distinct sound that is for sure, I missed the darned thing, those C 136 Hercules, constantly pass over head, sounded like one of those while having a bit of lunch, so I did not run outside grrr ! LOL, but it sure is perfect day for it to fly though !

'17's are neat aircraft. I flew in that on a few years ago out of Oshkosh, Wi. Good friend who is in His mid eighties now was a radio man on a B-17 and fell out the bomb bay while on a practice bomb run over New Jersey. Seems He was seated closest to the bomb bay and the lighter practice bombs would "hang up" quite often. Said He climbed down the ladder and pulled out the big screwdriver they used, when he pried the bomb free the ladder and Him went out with it!

Pretty sure you mean C 130.

Yes 130 and not sure what series, they have been around a long time. This B17 was another dressed up like the Memphis Belle, only 15 air worthy left.

How in heck did he survive that ?

I am sort of a fan, we have an inlaw that was a pilot of these and others in WWII. Reason being, its a tribute to their sacrifice and the reality of what it was like to be in that aircraft, under fire etc. Its hard to imagine the assignments they executed under the circumstances.

I was fortunate to have seen the Liberty Belle several times, it buzzed the treetops and our barns in 2010, I have a small video of it near my home in a banking turn, just coming through the low ceiling and or clouds.

It had only been 7 or 8 years that the Air Force took the Memphis Belle away from the city of Memphis.

I subscribe to Aviation History, Warbirds and WWII magazines, and I have not seen anything to indicate that the Memphis Belle was airworthy. Last time I touched it, it was a long way from flying.

This is a B17 that never saw action, but restored to replicate the Memphis Belle, by the Liberty Foundation.

Good story in the link attached, it buzzed my house today, I wish I knew it was coming. I had advance notice of 2 F16's flying in from Westover Mass., a week or so back they were a tad late, but right over my house. I wish I knew this was coming over, but it seems its here for awhile, good weather, might see it tomorrow, I may just have to go over and tour it, I can't sacrifice the funds to take a flight, I'd do it in a heartbeat, not sure if the inlaw would go for that, be cool if he did and went too, but one just never knows what kind of past something like this would bring back.

Its something to see isn't it ? I just think it provides an accurate glimpse into what those guys had to do, its good they can fly some of these and let people see something that for the most part is history and would likely never experience precisely what it was like to at least fly in on, let alone being under attack, to me it appears they were sitting ducks much of the time, that never stopped them.

Heres a news article, I believe its at Albany International Airport, only other option would be Schenectady.
