john deere clutch frozen

i have a john deere 2040 that sat idle about a month and now the clutch wont release to put it in gear. anyone out there got any tricks without splitting the tractor

If its only sat a month,it should not be stuck too bad.Jack up a rear wheel.Block/tie the pedal down.put the thing in (high)gear, shake the rear wheel. That may jar the clutch free.

After My Father inlaw pased away My M.I.L. couldn't let go of His old pickup, so it sat.
Whenever I had to move it the clutch would be stuck. I would put it in 4th gear and start it, it would break free before the end of the driveway.
Good Luck.

PUT TRACTOR IN LOWEST GEAR, (LOW) TIE ANOTHER TRACTOR ONTO,PUSH CLUTCH IN, PULL FORWARD ON HIGHWAY OR SOLID WITH PEDAL IN. SHOULD BREAK LOOSE IF THIS IS PROBLEM. RELEASE CLUTCH PEDAL OCCASIONALY OFF AND ON. DO NOT TRY AND START UP TRACTOR WHILE DOING THIS.
