Drop the pan and look inside at where the block is broken. That low you maybe able to just repair that block. The hole is below any water or oil passages. So see what else it broke inside.

The old Ford 4 cylinder gas engines would throw the rods if they where run too long with worn out connecting rod bearings. You many times could repair the block.

If you have the broken piece and the inside is not damages anywhere else. Just clean it all up and JD weld the piece back in. IF you don't have the piece, make one out of a piece of steel plate.

If none of the internal web is damaged you may get lucky.

I just couldn't do your job. I'm a scrounger/saver by nature, and I just couldn't bring myself to knock down those sound, usable structures that you have to do in your job---not without hauling most of the components to my house.

I have got containers all over the place full of lumber, flooring, doors, window units. Stacks of treated lumber stacked off the ground some covered some not.I have enough stuff to build a 6000 sqft. metal building all layed out at the farm ready to go up when We can afford the slab. No more room.

Jd we have good block and a std, crank and fairly sure we have another balancer. We also have that 4230 with a good engine. Think it may be a fun project.
