706 International and Ford 770 Loader

I have a 706 International and there is a 770 Ford Loader for sale that is a really good deal. I know there will be some fabrication work in order to get it to fit. I am wondering two things, if this loader is to small for my tractor - it comes with a 5 foot bucket and are the arms going to fit around the tractor. The reason I am asking is the loader is about 4 hours from where I live.

You need to measure the 706 from the rear end to the front, then find out what the loader measures. Anything can be fabricated, but in some cases, the less the better.

Mainly I am worried about driving the 4 hours just to find out it has no chance of working. I might have to just risk it.

Ford didn't necessarily build the loader. I have a 7711 Frod loader on my Ford5610 tractor, and the loader was built for Ford by Shwarts manufactoring Ltd.So maybe if you could get the serialnumber of the loader, you could find out from the manufator of the loader if that loader was put on other tractor. Prehaps the diffrent mounting bratkets are still available. Bruce

The Ford 770 loader was built for a Ford 1600 compact tractor. That Ford 1600 was under 30 HP.
That is the reason it is a "real" good deal. It is a ridged mounted loader without a quick tach bucket. So it would not be a in a lot of demand.

So it would be way to small of a loader for your IH 706.

Just go to Google images and type in Ford 770 loader. There are several good pictures on the first page.

Long story short .. It is not even close.. find a loader that fits. That ford is not big enough to even close to fit.

Thanks JM! I like long stories short. I have found the loader I need andit costs 3000. That seems a little steep to me. I was thinking more in the 1500-2000 area.

You need to look at what new loaders are selling for. It is not hard to have $10,000 in a new loader now. So that is driving up the used loader market.

If the loader that is correct for your tractor is $3000 and you are looking at incorrect loaders in the $1500-2000 range. You need to take the cost of modifying them and add that to the cost of that loader. Then subtract that from the cost of the correct loader. Then that number averaged over the years of use you think you will get out of the loader. Long way to say for just a little money each year you could have the correct loader for your tractor.

I have seen too many cobbled up loaders on tractors get people hurt or the tractor torn up when the wrong mounts break the tractor.

I agree I would not pay 2000 for a incorrect loader. I would
pay 250 ( the cost of the 770 I was talking about) and modify if
it would work, but the 770 will just not work. I am thinking
about paying in the 1500-2000 for one that is bolt on ready.
The thing is I really don't need a loader now but I don't want to
pass up a good deal if it is there. One thing I have learned is it
is deffinitly worth the investment to do something right the first
time instead of doing it wrong and having to do it again in a
couple of years.

Would you care to let me know where that 770 loader is at? I have a ford 1600 tractor and would love to find a loader without breaking the bank. I am sure it is future than 4 hours from me, but I can only hope.
