At this time 20 years ago today we had the
Mississippi river flood our first house.
Yeah we were one of many victims of the Great
Midwest flood of 1993. River at St. Louis reached
50+ feet. Floor stage is 30.

I was lucky as my only inconvenience was a detour on my work commute. Riverview was closed for several weeks.

Mother nature can certainly be humbling when she shows us who is really the boss.

Only had water damage, no structurel damage. We had 8 feet of water. Some places, the houses were completely under water. We were not in the current from the levee failure. We sold the house and buyer fixed it up and living there. Present house is 106 feet higher. Going through this once was enough

I remember that flood very well. I was in Jerseyville flying supplies and passengers from Hardin,IL
