With a new battery, starter and fuel pump in my 2005 TH 6x4, it still won't start.
There is now lots of fuel in the filter and fuse #1 was broken and has also been replaced.

Letting the front plug hang from its wire I see a spark.

With the rear plug and wire hanging there is no spark. When I hold the plug against the engine then (tingle) I do get a spark. This is repeatable.

Is the rear spark plug wire broken? What else could be happening?

This is the first time I have checked for a spark so is this the correct procedure?

Any pointers would be appreciated.

If you use a spark plug to observe its spark it obviously needs that frame ground, or else you can have just the end of the plug wire approx 3/16 away from the frame and if the ignition and wire is good a good bright blue (NOT faint thin wimpy yellow) spark should be visible. Its easy to swap and substitute plugs and/or wires to see if they are the problem.
