'97 Chevy Lumina question

Took a long weekend trip to SE Kansas to visit son doing summer internship there. Bouncing through the rough roads of KC today we suddenly started getting static noises out of one rear speaker. This is '97 Chevy Lumina. When we got out of the city we stopped to investigate. We found that we get the noise with the radio off, with the ignition off, and even after we pulled the fuse for the radio. We also found that the radio is not working now. It was fine yesterday. Is anyone familiar with this or have any suggestions? BTW, I have an old tractor and like old tractors.

Couple of thoughts here -- First, are you SURE it's the speaker? Try unplugging at the speaker and see if the noise goes away. It may be noise in the rear suspension/struts.
Secondly, by removing power to the radio, the theft-deterrent feature will have been activated. If it's had a code put in it, you will have to enter the code in order to get it working again. Check your owner's manual for instructions. If you don't have the code, then you'll have to contact the dealer for help getting it unlocked.
Good Luck and God Bless
