50 Years With the 50

I was just thinking it is over 50 years that my dad drove this Cockshutt 50 home to this farm. I had it out for a little exercise a couple of weeks ago and recorded some of the drive. The camera angle is from low on the left fender, right where my eye level would have been as a kid riding on the hitch.

rusty6,

Neat old tractor. Geez, that ol' girl flies in road gear and you sure have a lot of room to roam.

Great video - neat idea putting the camera so it shot video from a kid"s perspective. Rode with my dad (or my neighbor) many times. Mesmerizing to watch the wheels go round.

Its actually only about ten miles per hour top end but agreed the video makes it look faster. Yes, at 57 belt horsepower the 50 was the top of the line for that series. It was only about 7 years old when dad bought it. I can't imagine buying a top of the line tractor of any color at seven years old today but farming was a different world in 1960 of course.

Awesome, don't stumble on too many 50s here in our area of NY; few 30s and 40s around even a 20 or two...5-6 years ago there was a 50 dsl with a loader at an estate sale that one of the local aution companies NOT usually known for farm stuff had...thought maybe I could steal it...it opened at $3500 which was a tad more than I hoped to steal it for lol!

i don"t remember my 50 being that noisy.
one of the dumbest days of my life when i sold my 50 the other was when i sold my 95 impala ss.
one the of the better days was when mrs 730 and i got married 10 years on august 10 also both of our birthdays we will be 65.
