Woods mower belt

I have a woods belly mower. I have a long belt to put on it. when I get the belt installed around all the pulleys I end up with a twist in the belt. Is this normal?

Never had a manual for this mower and have owned it for 23 yrs. Only the third belt that's been on it. I took the original off after I bought it because of cuts in the belt. Last week it started to throw the belt. Looks like it had a bad spot in it.

You must be easier on belts than I am. I'm on my second, but it seems to be holding up well.

Found some manuals online. I didn't think it looked right. I had the twist all on one side. I'll have to figure out how to get that out.

I just put a new belt on my cub with a woods 59 ysterday. Looking forward from the rear of the tractor, the left belt will have 3/4 twist in it, and the right one will have a one quarter twist.

Yes it is normal. I have a model 309 on my Farmall H and there is a 1/4 twist on one side of the pto pulley and a 3/4 twist on the other side of the pulley.

The belt for the Woods 59 on a Farmall B is made with a 3/4 twist in it. Belts for other tractor brands might vary. Jim
