charging deep cycle battery

I am going to charge deep cycle battery. Has 6 caps for water. Do you charge yours with the caps on or off?

I just use a regular 12 volt charger with the caps on. I leave a Harbor Freight batt. tender on it for the winter. I never had any problems with it.

Moderate charging rates, <10amps, will not cause pressure in the battery beyond the venting capacity. Charging is always best when done modestly. Jim

Put 1oz of hydrogen peroxide per hole and charge with the caps off or loose.

Only item to add to a lead acid battery is distilled water to bring the electrolyte level up 3/4 of the way between the plates and the lower fill ring.
Charging rate of 10amps is too low and will sulphate the plates.
If it"s a 700CCA battery, charge at 35 amps.
