OT - Not a good car weekend for the lad

Joan's youngest boy was going to bring some of his rugby team
down from college for a cookout Friday night. 70 miles or so.
He had a flat tire, called to say they'd be late, then called 30 minutes
or so later and said the factory doughnut spare would not fit on the car.
So mom took him one of his "summer" tires and rims to use to get here.
The summer tires are worn out, so he wasn't using them.
They made it here in time to have dinner at 9 p.m.
When they left they took mom's car and she took his to the tire
store Saturday morning. All four were shot. $415.
They did an alignment and said it also needs a wheel bearing
and ball joint. I just replaced them about two years ago.
While the car was at the tire store, they put the driver's side
electric window down and it would not go back up.
We put it in the garage for Saturday night since it was
sprinkling. I hoped it would rain. Should have left it out.
Today I took it apart and found that the motor was the culprit.
No parts available on Sunday, so I disassembled the window
motor, cleaned the commutator and brushes, put it back together
and rolled the window up. This "magic" apparently bewilders college kids.
I then unplugged the motor so it wouldn't get rolled down again.
So they headed back to the campus today, got almost there and
the car died at a stop sign. Would not roll over.
I took my tractor hauler up there, winched the car up on it new tires and all,
gave them a ride home and brought the car back home with me.
I told him welcome to the world of car ownership, wait 'til you buy a house!
Guess I'll try to look at it tomorrow. Battery's on the charger.

You are a good man! God's gift to not killing your kids when they are teenagers is Grandkids...can't beat 'em!

LOL I can't agree more, the grand kids are great!

We have 7 kids. I went through the car thing 7 times, so no sympathy here for ya.

Your a good man. Might want to check the gas tank while your at it.My son seemed to think cars could run forever on five dollars.

Unfortunately I'll never see grandchildren, I've
outlived two wives and all of my children. The kid
that I adopted 5 years ago will NEVER drive, but she
does like to ride in the back of my truck.

P.S.: My kid has fur, two horns, and says "Nnnaaaa!"
.

Loren:

At my age I'm not going to get married for a 3rd time just to adopt children; and in this country they don't allow single men to adopt children - they seem to think that every man is going to be a pedophile - guilty BEFORE the fact. So, I adopted a baby Goat (Pigmy Alpine), and I am raising her as if she were my own daughter.

No I am NOT crazy, eccentric yes, but not crazy.

Bambi doesnt act like a goat

Goats do make good pets. We had a toggenburg that my mother bought when I was 3 months old. When my younger brother and I didn't drink the milk anymore, she became a pet-even house broken. She lived to be 13 years old. Growing up, we called cinnamon graham crackers "goat crackers" because we gave them to her as treats and my grandfather would break the filter off of a cigarette and give them to her. She did ruin the back seat of a good Pontiac when my mother and grandfather were taking her to have her bred.

Walt, I'm glad you've got Bambi. That companionship is priceless!
I've been blessed. Of my own and through marriage combined I
now have 11 children and 9 grandchildren. I just have to keep up!

Don't know, I've never tried taking her to a bordello. Besides, I don't think that they would have any stud goats there.

I was working in Pahrump,Beatty, Black rock 20 plus years ago pulled into the ranch in my bucket truck
went in and had a couple of beers, would have bought a t shirt if they had sold them, just to say i was there. I remember on a Monday morning you would have dessert and by Friday there would be double wides with kids playing on the grass lawn.
Never saw a town grow so fast.
