WD45 Snap Couple Spring

I have a '55 WD45, the snap coupler spring is missing. The ARGO dealer in my area said the parts book showed the spring for WD45 and the D17 is the same. I have followed the directions on this forum for installation procedure, when I put it into the bell there is no tension on the spring. It is on the correct side of the small pin. Are the springs for WD45 and D17 the same. If so does anyone have a picture of one that is assembled?

Is this the spring that keeps the little clip up inside the bell when you put an implement into it? Or something else? Somebody else sent me this a year or two ago when I needed help figuring out how the drawbar worked when swapping out for the plow and getting the release chain put in properly, maybe it will help you somewhat (don't have a listing of the parts that it goes with though, sorry):

Are you talking about the #25 in the picture? Get in there with a flashlight and see where the old spring wore out the paint. It- the hair ends? might just need to be positioned differently in there.

If your talking about that spring in that bell there is a complete unit on Ebay at a starting bid of $19.99 and he has no bids yet.

The spring #25 is what holds the latch up. The loop part goes under the latch. The other ends get wrapped around the cross pin to apply the force to lift the latch. They are kind of a PIA to get wound around correctly while getting the cross pin in. Plan on learning a few "new" words. LOL
