Brass Resister/Coil Screw

We need a bit of help. We completed a Distributor Tune up. While installing the resister, the small brass screw ( with hole for coil spring) that holds the forked end of the resister wire has been lost. We searched unsuccessfully for that little bugger and could not find it. Our local tractor supply could not order us one as "they are obsolete". I have found no kits that include this brass screw. It is an important feature as the brass screw is conducive for the electronics. Any idea where one could order this piece?
Thank You!

If you are talking about a Ford N tractor, I do not know where resistor comes into such distributor picture, but true, no longer available, not even on a new distributor. However, a Phillips head brass screw from hardware works just fine, even stainless steel will be fine.

the hardware store does not carry this style screw, it is quite small, made of brass has a flat head screwdriver slot and has in the center of the screw a small hole which is designed to hold the coil spring when the distributor is assembled.

My Dad (is a master electricion) seems to feel this brass screw was put on the tractor (9N) for a specific reason, otherwise a steel screw would have been there, as there is a steel screw at the other end of the resistor...

Theresa, I used a brass Allen head screw in mine.
It holds the spring fine.
I bought the screw at the local hardware store.

Put any dang screw in there, put a drop of oil on to keep it from rusting and run it.Tractor woun't know the driffent anyways.

Factory's switched from brass screws to steel in the distributers decades ago. Doesn't make any difference. If I'm not mistaken you can rob the "correct" style screw from a wall switch or outlet but you'll have to drill your own hole.

A good Radio Shack will have all sorts of tiny and smaller brass screws, very reasonable, PLUS they'll sell you a bag of them, so you can lose all you want. [That aspect I particularly like.]Very reasonable.

The screw has a concave head because the breaker plate can move left or right when timing is adjusted.A phillips or allen head will work fine.
