Well since my family loves them this way I figured I would pass on the recipe to you guy's. Been picking a gal. of green beans every day so have lots of them on hand.
Clean your bean like normal. Add water just enough to cover them. Cut up 3 or 4 pieces of bacon. Add some garlic to taste and half a pack of Hidden Valley dips Fiesta Ranch. Boil till tinder.

gonna show that idea to my dear sara rich ,,, you do mean to boil til tender ,, not til the green beans are burned as tinder,,. LOL

I grilled some green beans the other night - pretty tasty!

Toss with a little olive oil and kosher salt, than throw on a rack, so they don"t fall through the grill grate.

Grill until they start to wilt a little, and have a few brown spots.

Okra is good that way, too.

Haven't had them fixed that way in years, my mother use to fix them like that and I forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. She use to fix them in a fry pan also. If I remember right she would add bacon pieces and bean and cook them until they were soft. No water just a light oil on the bottom of the pan

We have had a pretty good stand of both green and wax beans this year. Usually we just clean and cut them, and throw them in a crockpot and cover them with water. Then we fry up some bacon (in quarter-sized pieces) and put it in the crockpot (along with the bacon grease, of course) and throw in a few pats of butter I think and some new potatoes and fresh grown onion if you've got it. Then just cook the day away!

We put green beans in a crock pot along with cut up onions, potatoes and smoked sausage and let it cook on high all day. They usually do not last long around here.

Grilled a batch the other night except add some chunks of red onion, some cherry tomatoes and garlic.

I've done them your way too but there is always some garlic.

We put them in a pressure cooker with new potatoes, some onion and a couple strips of cooked bacon. Cook until almost done and add a little butter and sweet cream. Let stand until good and warm with the lid back on (10 minutes or so)....James

It takes about 10 minutes to blanche green beans to a "tender crisp" state as done in good restaurants, or the Paula Deen way.
