Distributor issue

I have a 53 Ford Jubliee I bought in pieces and am trying to restore it. I bought an ignition tune up kit part number 0236342 from Tractor Supply because I am having a rotor issue. The issue is the rotor that was in the distributor didnt fit. it goes on the distributor shaft but would rotate a good 1/2 inch left to right. So I bought a new one and it fits the same way. Any suggestions??

There is a D shaped spring that goes on the shaft under the rotor.
I'd bet that yours is missing.
Probably got popped off with the dust cover.
They sell them here on YT Poke Here

Make sure the little clip on the end of the shaft is there. If it's not that will cause your issue.

BTW, ignition parts from tsc should generally be avoided due to low quality. Your local Napa will have or be able to get quality parts.

You may get more insight down on the Ford forum or the N series Forum further down.

Thank Yall very much. In fact I apparently missing the little clip under the rotor. And thanks for the link to buy one. I have it on order now. I am going to get this old gem running one way or the other.

Glad we could help Rick.
Join us over on the 9N/2N/8N forum as well.
The NAA/Jubilee is generally considered the last of the N's.
They're also welcome on the Ford forum here on YT.
I really like my '53, although they are a bit of an odd duck when it
comes to getting certain parts having only been built for two years.

i lost the clip on the 2000 when it was fairly new while tuning it up for my grandfather...took some looking but found clip inside old rotor.
